What is involved in selling your dvc, does anyone know? We have only paid in $2000 on our contract. We purchase 300 points for BLT. I'm just wondering if we could sell and break even. :confused3

Look at the prices at the timeshare store or dvcbyresale. You'll get about $105 per point. So I doubt you'll break even.

Most resale companies charge a 10% commission and the ROFR fee (maybe $20). So you probably will not be able to breakeven.

Eek, that is what I thought. I didn't know what commission fee was...Wow...10%

If you financed 300 points you likely paid $3000+ for down payment. Is the $2000 you paid in addition to that?

And when you say "break even", do you mean on what you now owe, or what you originally paid?

Feel free to contact The Timeshare Store, Inc.® at sales@dvctore.com and we will be happy to send you all the information on selling. Did you purchase from Disney or from resale? Typically if you bought resale than you paid less to get in and you might be able to break even. If you bought from Disney then you probably paid a much higher price than what it would sale for currently.

I wish the best of luck to you if you decide to sell.

We bought on the disney cruise line before BLT prices even increased. I don't remember what was paid down. I say break even I mean what is owed.
Well if you paid 10% down which is the standard down payment, plus paid $2000 on 300 points (almost $7/pt), and you only want to get what you owe, than I would guess you have a fair shot at breaking even. Jason from TTS could really give you a better answer.

Are the 300 points in one contract or multiple smaller contracts?
Are you banked or borrowed?

Your bet bet is likely to ask DVC is they'll do a deed back in lieu of foreclosure. That way you just walk away. While this could hurt your credit, DVC doesn't usually turn these issues in to the credit bureaus from what I've heard. If you sell, you're likely looking at the high 90's pp at the best you can do. That'll return you likely around $26000 after commission. If you are not behind on dues or payments you might just break even, if you're behind at all, no way you'll get out even. Depending on your situation, you may want to consider renting reservations at DVC.

I would use the Timeshare Store to sell. They do take 10% commission of total sale price. You might just try renting the points year to year until you are in a better situation.
Just Some Advice
Thanks
Bobby

I notice you just booked a DCL cruise on points today. Keep in mind, if you sell your DVC ownership, they will cancel all outstanding reservations including your planned cruise.

Something to keep in mind...

Yeah we had thought about selling just for the simple fact that after the kids have been to both the parks and boat. We are a cruising family, but I'll never come out ahead so I might as well use it even it wasn't the best investment in cruising. ;)
