I am not even sure if this is possible, but I'm trying to look into all my options. At the moment I have 130 SSR points with a march use year. My mom has 230 OKW 2057, 220 SSR, & 130 BCV. Our family is growing and we like to get the grand villa At least One time a year and a 2 bedroom the other. Bottom line is that we don't see any reason to get a grand villa anywhere but OKW but we usually don't have enough points to book 11 months in advance without borrowing.
I guess now I will get to the point and ask my questions. I am going to list a bunch of different options some of which I don't even know are possible or not and would appreciate your feedback.
First I was thinking of buying 220 OKW points for my mom from Disney directly and taking over her SSR contract. Spoke to my guide and he told me they had them but at $95 a point till 2057. With the price I see of some of the resale's getting approved out there that doesn't make much sense to me.
Then my guide also told me that you can still add on the extra years to a 2042 contract for $25 extra a point. Think personally this is a better option if I could get a low resale and add the extra 15 years if everything I am hearing about the low resale approvals and the addition being possible.
Then I was thinking that maybe I could possibly swap out my SSR for OKW. Have no clue if Disney does this and they probably don't just because it would make my life so much easier.
Or sell my SSR points back to Disney and then buy OKW. Does anyone know about fees involved with selling your contract back to DVC, or how much I could get from DVC for my SSR points that they will sell just sell to someone else for full price?
These are just some things I came up with I am sure that the DIS community has some better ideas for me on how to get into OKW and get rid of my SSR points. Your help and insight is greatly appreciated.

Disney does not swap points. They only sell new contracts.
It is always cheaper to buy resale, just takes longer.
Seller costs with broker are 8%-10% based on size of contract.
If your parents are up for it, your purchasing equal points at OKW and taking their SSR pts (I believe they can make you authorized on the contract) would be the least expensive transaction.

I would look for an OKW resale that already has been extended. There are fewer of them than 2042 contracts, but for example, Fidelity resales has about 8 listings or so, with asking prices in the $65-$75 range. If you let any of the brokers know what you are looking for, they can let you know when they get a listing and most of them can co-broke with Fidelity.

Option 2 and 3 are not very realistic....DVC doesn't swap resort points and they might "take" your points back, but not purchase them back. You would have to go through resale to sell them. Only if DVC wants to ROFR them will they buy them.

As for option 1, buying direct will always be more expensive then buying resale. But there are a lot more variables with resale....owners that back out of contracts, ROFR, associated costs/financing that can be more expensive. Disney does have some advantages with direct sale, so you just have to decide convenience or costs.

Then my guide also told me that you can still add on the extra years to a 2042 contract for $25 extra a point. Think personally this is a better option if I could get a low resale and add the extra 15 years...

most OKW owners thought this was a bad deal, BTW, so think about it a little more. 2042 is still a long way away...

Why not wait until about 2030 or 2040 and see if you still want the extra 15 years? That's a long way off.

I am not sure if the option will still be there at that point. I have 2 boys 3 and 7 and figured I could leave it to them. I mean they will only be 39 and 35 in 2042.

All of those choices are either bad choices or not within your options, IMO. I assume the reason for the OKW choice of GV is either size or points costs or both. If so, none of your choices would I consider reasonable. I'd reserve for SSR 11 months out alternating with SSR using banking and borrowing. I'd then try to OKW at the 7 month window on applicable OKW. I'd look to try other resorts on trips you want a 2 BR instead. If you're set on adding OKW points, I'd just sell the applicable parts of what you have now and buy resale for OKW looking at price differences to decide on 2042 or 2057. IMO though, SSR is a better long term value that OKW for a 2042 contract and likely equal or a little above OKW for a 2057 contract though that's more debatable. Bottom line is I'd stand pat and try to work within what I had already then re-evaluate if that option proved unsuccessful. Don't forget that groups change over time and a 2 BR plus 2 studios is about the same price as a 3 BR GV in many cases.

Do you travel with your mother? And do you actually need more points due to a growing family or is it that you want points at a different resort? Your various scenarios seem to cover different situations.

If you need more points and usually travel with your mother (esp. for the GV) then I'd worry less about who owns what points and just buy the additional at whatever resort you prefer to - which seems to be OKW. Then a transfer could be done to the other person's account each year to make your GV reservation or you can reserve a certain amount of days from each membership and link the reservations together.

This doesn't take into account any long term estate issues but if that's not a concern then it's the scenario I'd be looking at. And also at buying the OKW resale w/2057 expiration since the contract length is a concern.
