Hey everyone!! We are going back for our second trip in the second week of May. Last time we stayed at POR in one of the mansions and LOVED it!. This time our DS 3 was watching the video and of course LOVED Movies. SO tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly. I really want him to feel the magic this time since he doesn't remember anything from our last trip. TIA

We stayed at ASM when we were still a family of four- my older kids were 8 and 3 and they loved it! The theming can't be beat. Dh and I had no complaints and experienced none of the things you sometimes hear people complaining about (dirty foodcourt, slow busses). The pools and foodcourt are great- very clean and alot of fun. I would highly recommend ASM- especially with a three year old. Have fun!

We stayed at ASMO in September for one night to get in before the Hurricane Frances hit, then switched over to the Poly for our planned dates. My girls are 3 and 4 and absolutely LOVED the Movies!! We stayed in the Buzz/Woody section and they loved playing in "Andy's room". I honestly do not think they had any more fun at the Poly than the Movies. It was more convenient on Mom and grandma though. They loved the pool but hey...my kids love the bathtub to swim in so it's no biggie.

If I were to stay value again (which after this year I'll probably be) It will definately be there. The theming is Disney 100%!

Have fun!

Thanks girls! I guess I should have mentioned that my DD (who will be 10 Months), DS 3, Me, DH, and my mom were all going. I think as far as theming goes the Value resorts can't be beat. With that many of us in a room though will we be cramped?

We LOVE the Movies. We stayed in the Dalmatian area. The larger than life icons are so neat at this resort. The Toy Story section actually has Andy's room in the courtyard area. You can stand on the giant checkerboard. There are giant Buzz and Woody's by the builldings. Andy's room is quite neat. It features quite a few of the toys. Then in the Dalmatian area there is a TV with the dogs watching tv. The sidewalk has dogbones in it. It's a very neat area. I know that my daughter loved it, and my other daughter would also love it.

As far as being cramped, I don't think so. If you are planning on staying in the room for any length of time you might then notice it. But, just to sleep, no. We just went to Pop last year and took my mom. We decided to get two rooms because of privacy issues. My husband would have been very uncomfortable with my mother in the room. He is a VERY private person. My mom and DH are very close, and my husband would have gone insane with her in the room. He's just that type of person. Maybe since you are doing it for the theming reasons, not money, you could get two adjoining rooms. We got our room for $59 a night with a code. Not too much more than a room at POR.

We stayed once with four adults in the room and we had plenty of room.....our daughter and hubby and two kids stayed in their room and they were fine also...Food court can't be beat.....we have stayed in moderates and also deluxe and always like to come back to the Movies..

We stayed at AsMovies with our family of 5 last year had a blast! (Kids were 5, 2, and 10mo.) With three little boys, we just had to stay there, for the Toy Story theme! ;) I'm sure your little guy would love it!
I agree with a previous poster who said room won't be much of an issue unless you're spending a good deal of time in the room. There was a nice little corner space to set up our plack-n-play where it wasn't in the way, and we put our luggage in the dressing area. It worked nicely. Not tons of room to spread out, but we could get around easily. It was worth it too se the looks on their faces when we walked up, and they loved playing in the courtyard.
Oh, and mousekeping was great. The room was clean (I'm very picky too!), and we always had lots of soap and towels. Our boys also returned every day to the room to find their toys arranged differently, and on our last night they were sitting at the window in a chair looking out for us! They were so ammazed that Disney "magic" made their toys come to life! :goodvibes

Spend a little more in my humble view and stay at a moderate. I think the moderates will give you a better value. Just my view of course.

Stayed at ASMu a few years back and said never again unless I had to.......
DS decided to run HalfMarathon, and so I decided that it was January, we are focused on running, maybe one park...........save the money and we did ASMo. The entire family went and well........even after the last two trips being deluxe, we had a great time. We stayed in the newly renovated Mighty Ducks section, which has a wonderful quiet pool & laundry.

PLUS - Newly renovated room, great mousekeeping, immediate response to mousekeeping requests (took hrs at AKL), extremely helpful CMs at front desk, great food court with lots of food options (all cooked to order) & plenty of seating, nice pools with extremely attentive life guards, always very quiet in our room, and the theme was adorable.

MINUS - Now that depends if you compare to moderate or deluxe. We have never eaten sitdown at moderate but do enjoy them at the deluxe, so there was not that option without travel. I did miss the corridor room but that is deluxe and I did find that because all the walking was outside there were people smoking everywhere (and that bothered us). Too many people felt free to prop open their doors to their rooms and that was tacky to walk by and see their mess and them lounging on the beds. One kid missed the pool slide but the other didn't care. The bath area alittle more crowded for us but we survived.

We would go back to ASMo and I never thought I would say that - the theme is a real plus ! Well done ! :earsgirl:

we have stayed at the values at least 7 - 9 times. We really enjoyed it, i really do like the movies. We had a great room in the dalmation bldg. it is not preferred but it was a 1 min. walk to pool or food court. The food court is great, They have great choices from pizza, pasta dishes, steak, fish, etc. also its great with kids , they have ALOT to chose from. our room was always clean and we have had GREAT service at check in also. We also have had 2 rooms at the Music, cause last summer dd15 had 2 friends come with us. I think you will have a great time there. Unless we hit the lottery, if my husband and i go back alone someday , we would def. stay here again.....have fun..............

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I hated All-Star Movies. We've stayed there twice. The first time the room was really dirty. The bathroom floor had hairs in it, the carpet had toenails or fingernails on it so the room clearly had not been vacuumed. The sheets in the bed had hairs on them. They came & changed the sheets & cleaned the bathroom floor and left the vacuum outside our door & said they'd come back to vacuum but they never did.

We figured it was just an isolated incident so we decided to stay there again this year. It was a little better, but not great. The dresser had a half-eaten cookie on it left by either the previous occupants or mousekeeping. The beds had hairs in them & one even had blood on the sheets.
I don't know if we are just really unlucky to have this happen twice in a row, or if we're just pickier than most people, but we will never again stay at a value resort! :sad2:

:cool1: We stayed at the ASM Dalmatians a few years back, and loved it.Hope you'll give it a try! It's wonderful........ pirate:

We stayed at ASM in 2002, and everything was great. So when we planned on returning in October 04', I reserved our stay there again. However, when we walked into our room, I could see a definite decline in condition and cleanliness. Windows, mirrors, and surfaces were streaked and covered with a film. The furniture was chipped and showing wear. Granted, at the price we were paying (55.00 with code) I couldn't really expect much more. I got on the phone to the front desk, not to complain, but to upgrade to a WL. They still allowed me to use the code, and the transfer went smoothly. At the price we were paying, it was really worth the difference.

We have stayed at ASMu on several occasions and it was great. We prefer it over POP. We have also stayed in the mansions at POR and enjoyed that as well. The food court at ASMu is better, but the pool with the slide at POR was better. Either way, you will have fun on vacation. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

I would NOT stay there ever again. It was our first (AND LAST) stay at a value.

Our bathroom was dirty (dirt stayed in the same spots the entire stay).
We had 2 rooms (for 6 people) but felt so cramped.
The dresser and furnishings are very basic.
The paint was worn off our door in a 2" x 4" section.
The front desk CMs were inept.
Some of the sheets had rips and HOLES in them. The were very worn.

It's a cute resort but it took less than a day for the cuteness to wear off and all the flaws to shine.

There ya go. You wanted the good, the bad and the ugly. Sorry I can't help you with the good. For the price we paid $110 AP rate (with tax) for two rooms, I'd rather stay offsite in a much more upscale hotel.
