I don't know if this is something one can do but maybe you other band mothers can help me out.

My daughter came home today with two catalogs of stuff to sell for Band, Christmas stuff and food gifts, like cheeses, nuts, etc.

I wonder if it would be ok to sell them on Ebay? I would list them as Buy it Now, rather than accepting bids, so we wouldn't have more profit than we should. Also list the s&h which is the responsibility of the buyer.

So has anyone ever done this? Is it even "legal" since we're selling someone elses stuff? Is this a good idea?

I dunno....I'm leery of ebay lately...I sold for awhile but have heard lots of stories about sketchy buyers, chargebacks, etc, etc...personally, I wouldn't want to take the risk dealing with selling to people I don'tknow...but maybe I'm overthinking it!

Good luck.

I've both sold and bought on Ebay, and am aware of its pitfalls, but thanks for the concern. I know Ebay can be a pain...............

I think a problem you might run into is the lag time between Buy It Now purchase and when the order is placed with the school/shipped from company. I know when I sell things for DD's school, we hand in the orders, and the don't usually get anything for a month or so. Don't know that anyone on Ebay would be willing to wait that long. :confused3

I have thought about doing that before. It seemed lke a good idea...but pp had a good point about the stuff not coming in very quickly. Buyers may get upset if they use "buy it now" and it takes a while to receive the items. Good luck with whatever you decide!:goodvibes My DD ws selling stuff last month for her h.s orchestra trip (to WDW!!!:cool1: ) and it's a pain to sell that stuff!

When I purchase using a "buy it now", I expect my item in approx 1 week at my door step (I always pay extra for priority shipping). Per PayPals regulations, if you have not shipped the item (with proof of tracking/ DC) within 7 days of payment, the buyer can get a full refund.

I don't think I'd chance relying on another company to do my shipping, but that's just me.

Okay, we have TONS of these fundraisers, unfortunately, and I just can't imagine there are people out there who WANT to buy overpriced cr@p! I figure people only buy it because they feel sorry for you. :rotfl2:

LOL I was thinking the same thing!! We only buy things because I don't want my daughter to be the only one who doesn't sell anything. :rotfl: ;) This year I must have gone through the cataloges 10 times before forcing myself to pick a few things.

I don't know if it's legal but I don't think it's the best idea. They only way I could see you doing it is if you bought things yourself and then put them on ebay once you received them. But like I quoted above, I don't think people wil want to buy it at cataloge price. Sorry. JMO
