Sell 1 to buy another

I sold 210 points at OKW to purchase 150 at AKV. For me, it was the desire to have an 11 month window at AKV, where the kids love to stay.

Did you just find access to the plans today? Where are they available for viewing? Inquiring minds would like to view them as well...lol.

my DB's FIL is one of the places that Disney send the plan for bids.

but don't want him in trouble so haven't asked to put them on the web.

you know how Disney can be.

that is how I know that right now the top 2 floors are the GV.

also got mad about not being able to get on the roof. No access that DB could see for us (DVC member) to get on the roof.

he say it goods pretty wonderful!!!:dance3:

to the OP - asked my family today - selling OKW 190 points, so far kepting OKW 50 points plus my VWL and BWV

To me you need a good amount of pts to stay in a 1-2 bedroom for a week or two. So I don't get selling to purchase 50-100 pts at one resort? I dont get how 50 pts could do any good unless you are local and don't have to fly and just visit a few days or so

We have 2 contracts of 200=400 pts for SSR. We use all those. We are planning on purchasing more( about 100) at GCH/DL but we live in SD and go the DL all the time so a studio will do us there just fine.

If it turns out that you can still use pts the way you can there know also than we will not by any pts.

Can someone tell me what purchasing such small contracts does? Am I missing something there? I know if you have small contracts then selling them is way easier. But why sell 50 of one to purchase 50 at another :confused3

DH and I bought 100 BWV points. We plan to usually use our points Sunday-Thursday in the low point season and will usually only stay in studios or 1 bedroom villas. I figure we will also do a lot of standard view. Before DVC, we only went to WDW every 2 to 3 years.

I do feel a case of addonitis coming on. I'm thinking something close to the Magic Kingdom with a Contemporary C-Shape feel to it. :rotfl:

I do studios alot

60 vwl - 5 days in Dec (early)
50 BWV - 5 days (standard view so 45) in Oct, nov or dec (early)
right now have 240 at OKW - but soon will have
50 OKW - 5 days - except - summer and spring (okay holidays too - but never go then) - but can go one year in Sept (40) and the next in March (55).

generally go solo or have one other person with me.

now if I bring someone else - we could stay in different resorts (I don't have a problem with that)

would try to by enough for 2 studios or 1-bedroom at CRV.

I stay in studio - so have extra points - lately been renting them out. but have decide to sell them.

still go 3 times a year - just stay in my different home resort. right now going 4 times a year - but also staying offsite in other timeshares.

Spiceycat:

We are just down the road in Montgomery. Forgive me for being off-topic but how do you normally travel to see the mouse? I just can't see us making the 9 hour drive each way 4 times a year and flying seems like a hassle and an expense. Do you drive at night? Do you go through Montgomery or Atlanta if driving? What is your secret Spiceycat?

DH and I considered converting our January park passes to AP and taking advantage of $59 POP rates in September but didn't. We figured between the ticket upgrade, the POP room, food, and gas it was still going to be $700 to $1000, which seems like a lot when you were just there and have another trip planned.

I know DVC makes it easier, but ...is there something else?

We go 3-4 times a year and have always flown -- until last week. The drive from Charlotte was 8.5 - 9 hours and really wasn't that bad. We drove down on Saturday and drove back on Saturday -- absolutely no traffic. I think we'll keep driving instead of flying. We don't have Owner's Locker and like being able to fill the car up with whatever we need.

well I belong to RCI and II - they have some excellent sales on timeshares you can rent. they are the BIG exchange clubs. DVC does not allow you to join either. (but I have some other much, much cheaper timeshares)

this place I am going to - last year in Jan, RCI had a sale it cost me $214 (I think) for a 1-bedroom with a full kitchen in VV at Parkway - very nice place.
for the entire week.

Yes, I go through Montgomery - drive at night. also have you been taken the 429 off the florida turnpike? this will save you around an hour - before I was taking US27. Now it does cost a little more - us 27 was $1.25, florida turnpike is $2.50 plus 429 is $1.00. but it definitely saves time.

my food allergies also save me money. because I really, really have to want eat out to do it. so cook or prepare lots of our meals in the studio or villa instead of eating out. most of time when we eat out will be in the restuarant for 2 to 3 hours - one of my worst allergies is Pepper and chef have a big problem with that one.

plus my biggest cost saver - I have a Honda! It gets between 25 and 35 miles on a gallon of gas on the I-10, and I-75. If I go 90mph (I know bad, bad) it gets 25; if I go 65 to 70 mph it gets 35 -32.

also watch for the SW rates - I have flown to Orlando for $132. So not a great deal more than gas. they have those deals in Sept. of course with two of you - it will cost more.

If I stay in a WDW resort these days - it is a value. My trip in Sept is with free dinning (did it last month) - so it will save me money not time at all - but definitely money.:rolleyes1

also try to do 2 things in one trip. my trip in Sept was my niece fall break - so she and her parents, plus her bf went. they stayed in an offsite timeshare that allows dogs....

this trip is to celebrate mother's 85 birthday! plus it is the food & wine festavial.

in March I go because I can!!!! the annual statement has been received by all the states and I can have fun again. can't in jan or feb.

May is flower/garden festavial. like the bands better than in the food/wine.

you can do it. Just cut back on unnecessary expensives - just because you have a car doesn't mean you have to drive to the parks. Yes the buses can be slower - but it isn't on your dime.

when you stay offsite you have to drive. Also do your cooking before hand and freeze the stuff. then Pop it in the mircowave.

you might be surprised at how much you spend on food. not to mention gas just driving back and forth to the parks, resorts.

Thanks Spiceycat and DVC Mike!

Get AP's, good room deals (DVC or other TS), eat in the room, ride the busses, get a Honda, look for dings:thumbsup2 . Got it.

January will be 2nd trip in 9 months. I really wish we would have bought annual passes.

How do you go about selling a contract? We have an add-on at SSR that we would consider selling to buy CRV. We bought at the time that SSR was the only choice, and after staying there we really aren't fans. Can you sell an add-on? Do you need to use something like the Timeshare Store or can you deal with Disney directly?

There have been reports here that Disney may buy back some add ons but for a very low price. It would be best for you to contact a business like TTS, but there are also people who who would say to sell it yourself. Me? I would call TTS!

Bobbi:goodvibes

I plan on selling one of my SSR contracts. I have three, two for 150 and one for 120. I bought two 75 point contracts at AKL. I want to own 600 points total. If CRV is built, I will buy two 75 point contracts. I like to keep things even for my boys. I will be able to give them 300 points each. So the 120 point SSR will be sold next year.

I really will buy at CRV the minute they go up for sale but I wondered how many folks sell a contract to buy a new one?

I love my OKW but am point short. I want to take the extension money and use it for the down payment on CRV and then either use a low rate CC or sell OKW finish the sale.

I sure wish they would stop building places I love.

We sold a MVCI week when we decided to buy AKV this year.

We also sold some BCV points when we reconfigured our ownership levels at OKW and BCV.

While our initial strategy was to to have 3 different resorts & bank & borrow for 11 month window; we are starting to think that perhaps the way to go is sell either BW or WL and buy more CRV points. Thinking that both the longer contract, smaller resort, greater appeal will make it more of an 'investment' for us (or at least hold it's value a bit longer in case we want to sell if our DSs don't want it down the road).

Only problem(s) is:

1) will there will be a glut of resales hitting the market once CRV is announced making a profitable sale less likely in a timely manner? Didn't take note if it happened when AK was anounced.

2) which do we sell? thinking we should hold BW for standard view point availability (our DSs like this resort); yet we do luv WL; fell guilty about thinking of parting with it.
