Some of you may know that I am in Tae Kwon Do. on Saturday I will be competing in my first competition. It is in the forms division. (this is tae kwon Do moves strung together in a sequence.) I never would have had the confidence to do this months ago, and I have to admit I am a bit nervous. So, if you don't mind, I could surely use some Good Luck WISHes! :goodvibes

You WILL do fantastic. I've done this and if I can truly, you can too! Do it with a smile in your heart. It will be easier!

You've practiced and you can do this. Go for it!

:cheer2: :cheer2:

Way to go Boss! Well wishes headed your way.............:cheer2:

Sending good vibes your way :goodvibes :goodvibes . You'll do great, can't wait to hear about it.

I'm sending mountains of Pixie Dust floating your way today.

Vija I am so glad that you are involved with Tae Kwon Do. It is wonderful to have a passion in your life. I can tell that it has helped you in many ways so far. Your Sensi (SP ??) is a very caring mentor. As a busy mom it is sometimes hard to take time for you and I know Tae Kwon Do is Vija time!!

I know you will do you best. Relax, remember to breath, and concentrate. Take time to enjoy the whole experience of your first competition but remember there will be many more. This is just the beginning for you my friend and the best is yet to come. What I mean with that statement is that as you learn more you will enjoy this even more.

Vija you go represent for all us wallflowers who have not yet dared to dream.

Have a great and successful day! Make sure you return and report to us. We want all the dish when you get a chance to share.

Can't wait for the report! I hope it went well...

Good Luck to you!! We are a TKD family as my ds has been taking for almost 6 years now.

Good Luck! You will do fantastic! Woo Hoo!

I had an AMAZING DAY!!!

First I watched my DD do her form, and she did great and got her 3rd place trophy. Then they called the adults....

There were 9 men and 7 women. We were in a staging area and they got us into our groups that we would be competing against. men's groups and women's groups. Well, a few of us were told that since we were the only ones in our age group divisions.... that we already were going to get first place finishes!!!! Sort of took the pressure off!:rotfl: We did have to do our form and when I was done, I shook each of the judges hand and they each said I had a great form.

BUT THEN all the first place finishers in their groups then had to come back to compete for the grand championship trophies. We were seated around the ring. All the young kids on one side, teens on the next side, black belts on 3rd side and adult colored belts on the final side (that means anything below the black belts). So here I was with the other adults, 7 of us. I had to go up against another lady from our school. I felt pretty hopeful because of what the judges said above when I shook their hand. (we had different judges this time). We did our form then you turn around and the judges point to who won that portion (behind our backs initially), then we turn around and I was told to go sit down where we would continue to advance. OH MY GOSH!!!! I couldn't believe I advanced. Then I started thinking "It's possible....". I am sure I had a very goofy smile on my face. I wish I could bottle the emotion I had at that moment, because it was one of pure ecstatic joy!!!!! So then I am in the final round with 3 other people competing for the grand champion trophy. I got down to business and felt like I did a strong, powerful form. Again we had to turn around for the judges to make their selection. I kept looking into the audience for a sign to figure out who won. Couldn't figure it out. They told us to turn around and then guess what?????

I WON THE GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY!!!!

I can hardly believe it! I almost didn't compete because I felt too uncomfortable at my present size... like I would be way out of place there. And I ended up beating out ALL of the other adults. I am still on cloud 9!:cloud9:

If I am standing and my arm is stretched above my head, the trophy is still about 2 inches taller than my hand! It is huge!!!! I am so incredibly proud of my accomplishment. And I hope that I inspire someone else to go for it. It was an amazing experience and I am so glad that I dared to step out and challenge myself. I am so proud.

Vija,

I am so happy for you. Tears are streaming down my face after reading your update. How wonderful. How hard you have worked. How far you have come. Hold on gotta get a tissue. Oh Vija you are an inspiration. Did I read that right is your trophy taller than you are? What a wonderful reminder of a fabulous day. If I had such a trophy it would go somewhere in view of my place at the kitchen table so I could always see it while eating. I will have to look for something to be my trophy that I will work hard for and stretch my abilities to obtain. Thanks for the idea. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks guys! It was amazing.

Brenda, yes ,the trophy is way taller than I am! It is in the front room, and I spent a little bit of the night last night, just staring at it, reliving every moment. :goodvibes

I hope you find that something, I truly do. It has given me confidence like nothing before. When I was walking tonight, I noticed that I really didn't care so much what passersby in cars might be thinking about seeing me, my size, walking down the street. The confidence in winning that trophy has stretched to other places in my life, and it is truly amazing. follow your Disname and Dare2Dream! I will be behind you every step of the way!

CONGRATULATIONS! on the win of course, but especially for having the confidence to compete...:woohoo:

Just wanted to stop by and say congrat's on your accomplishment over the weekend. We are all so happy and proud of you!!

Congrats! You should be VERY proud of yourself. ::yes::

Congratulations, Vija! I haven't been around WISH much since just after you started Tae Kwon Do, but I'm still so proud of you! What a motivation to us all!!!
