Selfies at character meet and greets

My 11 year old daughter is the Queen of the selfies. So I am curious, is she allowed to take a selfie with her phone when she goes to meet a character, or does the photographer have to take the picture? Is there any difference at character meals? She is sort of in that "Am I too cool for pictures with Mickey" phase but I can imagine her selfies would be adorable and would make her really happy.

Kids!!!

every character has a CM "friend" with them. When meeting characters
1. You can just talk to them
2. You can ask for their autograph
3. You can ask the CM "friend" to take a photo with your camera or phone
4. You can get the Disney photographer to take a photo

so I would image that talking selfies with the characters would be fine too.

At meals its a bit different. The characters come over to your table, but everything else is the same, so just go for it and take the selfies at the meals too.

I've done it. Stormtrooper Donald requested I take one of him last year, in fact. Of course, I forgot to duckface...what a fail! :crazy2:

(I'm 34 btw, not 11. :rotfl:)

I've seen lots of people take selfies with characters in meet and greets and dinner.

It's totally okay to take selfies. I've never done it, but I've seen lots of others do it and the characters actually seem to get pretty excited about it!

Tip: When taking selfies with the princesses (and maybe other characters), tell them that the phone is a "magic mirror." It keeps the magic alive. princess:

Not just allowed, encouraged! When Jessie insists you take a selfie together, you simply must comply!

Once when meeting Goofy, the photographer suggested my taking a selfie. My phone case is Goofy and the photographer took pictures of my taking the selfie where the case shows up too. Great fun. So to answer the question, I don't think they care about selfies. Just have fun.

Our DD had a terrific selfie with Baymax and Hiro on our trip this spring. They were great sports.

I did one with Olaf at DL in January. I think it is funny to do them once in while. I also did one with talking Mickey at MK.

Characters are great about selfies. They usually know the best angles and ways to get all in. DS does it all the time and had to laugh when Minnie using her hands was trying to show him the best way to get it or when he was doing it with Mad Hatter and Alice ran up and photo bombed them. Since most the "characters" are the generation that started the selfie they have fun with it. :thumbsup2

NOTE: Firm believer it is only a selfie if the camera is IN your hand. Sticks do not qualify.

I am so glad that I am not the only one!! WHY would you take a selfie when there are not just one but TWO available CMs that can happily take the picture for you! SMH... :rolleyes2

Because you can't post the photopass photographers picture to your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. And yeah you could hand them your phone but sometimes it's just easier to snap it yourself.
