Self-reflection (more than an actual question) - July visit???

My two youngest were in 5th grade last year when we took them out of school for our October trip to WDW. The stress those two and their 6th grade sister experienced with the amount of work that was expected of them the day they returned to school was awful. We will never take the kids out of school for a vacation again. But those are my kids and our school policy. Other schools are more laid back about missed work and when it is due when a family takes a vacation during the school year. Afternoon breaks were in the villa doing homework. Tired kids who should have been napping and floating in a pool stressed out over homework. No thank you.

So, we'll be in DLR in July and WDW over President's week like the rest of the masses.

Go prepared for crowds and heat, have your plan and enjoy a day at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Last year we went July 14-16 which was a Sun, Mon and Tues. I remember saying where is everybody. Sunday was a low crowd day, Monday was about the same and then came Tuesday, pretty busy but still OK. TouringPlans.com says it was a 5, 5, and 7 at DL when it came to crowd levels. But they said it was a 9 on all three days at DCA. I feel those numbers are pretty accurate.

Then we went to Disneyland in December, the first week. Those crowd levels felt busier than in July. TP says the crowd levels were 7, 7, and 4 the three days we went. I don't know about that 3, it felt busier than that.

We are going again in July and actually the same three days we did last year, hoping for those lower crowd levels. Like some people have said go line up for rope drop, stay until around 1pm, head back to the hotel for a nap, then head back around 5-6pm. This is what we do all the time.

I understand your concerns about the park, and it is busy, and crowded, and expensive. But if your heart is at Disneyland, you should go.

The best advice I can give to someone struggling with Disneyland anxiety is to let Disneyland happen to you. Don't enforce your will on the park. I find that for many, the reasons they get stressed at the park is because they can't do what they want when they want. But it's not about that at all.

Disneyland, to me, is something that happens to you when you're there. Not something TO DO. Open you heart and your mind to the Disneyland experience. Consider one of my favorite quotes "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished." We do not ask the tree to hurry up and grow, but it does. And it does so wonderfully. Same for Disneyland. It's not a checklist, it's an experience.

It will be crowded. There will be lines. There will be rude people. Patience for them will give you peace, as well as make their day better too. And that's the magic of Disney. All that is there, is there JUST FOR YOU. Be a part of that and there will never be a bad day at Disneyland
