Well - tomorrow my son turns 18. Which means he needs to register for Selective Service. So, we went to the website to do it online and got a message that he was already registered. He tells me he did not do it before now. Is there any other way to get registered besides the website?

I think when you register to vote or get a drivers license.

Mikeeee

Or through his high school. You never know what you give permission for when you attend public school!

Just guessing, but it may be tied to his drivers license.

You can register to vote and sign up for selective service when you get your driver's license.

Or you could do it the old fashioned way -when I registered I did it at the post office.
Ain't no school like the old school :lmao:

I had to laugh a lil when i saw this post.I had allreay did my stent in the USAF and had my dd214 in hand(discharge papers) When one day i get a letter telling me i had not registered and if i did not i would be turned over to the local provost marshall...Good ole uncle sam you can do your time but he still wants a peice of you...:worship: :worship: :worship: To make a long story short, i shot back a letter telling them they could contact the record"s dept in ST Louis...I still ended going to the post office and filling out one of those cards....:confused3 :confused3

This made me think a bit (it sometimes hurts to do that at my age).

I first registered for the draft almost 45 years ago. I remember getting a new draft "classification" after getting out of the navy that designated me as having prior service. I don't remember the exact classification, but I was still officially registered. I have to wonder if I am still officially registered, since I do not remember ever "unregistering." I wouldn't mind, but I'd be willing to bet I couldn't pass the physical.

You know that is true. I did not think about that.

I did see that anytime my son has to change an address - he has to update SS. I so do not remember either of my brothers doing this - ever!
