Selecting your dining rotation.....

We are going to book the Romantic Escape at Sea package for our western caribbean cruise. *IF* they allow us to choose our rotation, I am thinking of choosing APLAPLA. This puts us in Lumiere's for formal and semi-formal nights, and puts us in Parrot Cay for Mexicali night. Those nights are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Now I'm wondering which night to request for Palo?? We don't want to miss the first night, hopefully Animator's Palate, because we want to see the "show". So I guess that only leaves Sunday, Tuesday, or Friday. Hmm...maybe Tuesday because that would be our second time in AP, and it still leaves the last night of the cruise, Friday, to say Goodbye to our diningroom servers. I know we'll see them at breakfast the next morning, but in case we decide to eat at the buffet that morning, we will already have given them their tips.

So..... Can anyone think of why Tuesday night would be a bad night for Palo? It's Grand Cayman day and we'd have to be back on the ship before 5pm anyway since it sails away at 5:30pm.

Any comments from others who did the western AND had APL?? What nights did you do Palo?? I sure hope that they offer to let us choose our own itinerary with the package. If not, I'll have to choose another night, I guess :D

SeaSpray,

Great minds think alike! I was thinking about posting the exact same question. The other thing I would like to know is when you have your character breakfast so I know when to request the champaign breakfast and brunch at Palo.

The character breakfast is the morning after your first time in Animator's, I believe...so if you know your rotation you'll know this as well...

I had planned the same rotation for the same reasons for formal/semi nights and tropical night...so I know where you are coming from. However, we were planning on doing Palo on the semi formal night (Thursday, I believe) because, although we were on the Wonder, Tritons (and I guess we'd think the same of Lumiere's food) was actually our least favorite place to eat. Also, it would save on "dressing up" nights. I am all about dressing up, but I would rather do it twice, vs three times on the cruise.

All my planning has gone down the toilet for the Western, because we've added an Eastern and switched the package to that one instead....more days at sea to enjoy the "extras".

That does sound like a good idea, except I thought that on Thursday night, the menu is the "Captain's Gala", no matter which restaurant you are in? From what I've read, only the first 3 nights have the rotational restaurant's menu. Then the last 4 nights, the menu is the all the same for whichever restaurant you happen to be in.

Does anyone know if this is true? I'm basing my info on this web site: http://community.webshots.com/photo/52061656/70830733GubfrW

I've never heard of getting a choice for the rotations. I believe that they are choosen for you - unless it is different for the highest stateroom categories.

KMovies: Sorry, I should've specified that this has been offered as a courtesy to those who book the "Romantic Escape at Sea" package. It is not included and they don't have to do it, but people who've cruised lately have been reporting that the woman who books your Palo and Spa reservations in advance (and these ARE included in the package) have kindly been offering to take your request for dining rotation, too.

Otherwise, you are correct, you cannot choose your dining rotation. So...my question was based on the assumption that they will still be offering this perk when I book this package for our cruise, which is why I said "*IF* they allow me to choose the rotation.

Hope this clears it up! :)

P.S. We're in a Category 6 cabin, definitely not one of the "higher ups" :p

That being said about the menus, maybe do Palo on Tues, your formal night. But that is coming from my thought of the whole dressing thing. I am sure whenever you choose it, you will love it...you really can't go wrong!
