Selecting a building at ASM

I just booked my family's first trip to DW, I knew about the free dining promotion starting today thanks to all of you!.

We booked a "preferred" room as All Stars Movies. I've got two questions that I'm hoping someone here can answer, and I apologize in advance if these questions have been answered before.

1) Is there a difference to the room decor by building. For example, is a room in Fantasia decorated differently from a room in Toy Story?

2) Also, can we call in advance and request a certain building? I've got two young daughters (who would have LOVED the Ariel AoA building, but we'd rather have the free dining) and I think they'd rather stay at 101 Dalmations or Fantasia instead of Toy Story.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I used this board quite a bit when planning our first trip to DL a few years back and will probably be on here a lot now there we're headed to DW!

Yes. If you book thru the Disney website it will ask you for up to 2 room preferences in your category so you can check either building. If you don't book with them you'd have to call ahead to make sure...

As far as decor, no not really any difference besides a picture on the wall!

Thanks for the info about the decor. I booked through the DW site this morning and it didn't give me any options. Maybe I'll just give it a few days and then give them a call.

When are you going? It is a selection that you make during online check in. So about 10 days out of your stay... just thought of that now...

If you don't want to wait until you're at the online-check-in point, you can call and tell Disney your preferences now as well. And then mention your preferences again at online-check-in time! I'm staying in a preferred room at All Star Movies too and we just called this week to request one of the Toy Story buildings! (our trip isn't til October 10th!)
