Am I the only one who is just repulsed by Kramer on Seinfeld reruns?

My dad likes to watch the reruns. I used to think Kramer was funny, but ever since Michael Richard's racist tirade a few months ago, I just want to say yuck every time he comes on the screen.

Instead of laughing, I want to barf at his whole persona. I know Kramer was only a character, but I just can't separate the real Michael Richards from the performance anymore.

I don't sit and watch it, but it is on when I walk through the room.

To me the show is still funny, like in sports I need to be able to separate the performance(on screen or on field) with that of the real person. If I allowed the off field behavior to decide what players or team to support I think it would rule out every single HIGH SCHOOL team and above.

No there are no roll models, but there are still good players/actors/comedians.

Do you feel the same way about Mel Gibson's movies?

How about Ediie Murphy's?

Honestly, I thought I might feel differently about the show but I don't. I still laugh... actually watching it now

Actually I never liked either one of them to start with. I don't think I've ever seen a Mel Gibson movie. I haven't seen one with Eddie Murphy in at least a decade.

If I ever go see Dreamgirls, I will let you know how I feel watching Eddie Murphy. I really would not have predicted that I would feel that way about Kramer. I still like the rest of Seinfeld, but I just have this revulsion when I see Kramer on screen.

I still like it, if I let the personal views of people affect what i watch, I would not watch anything, I hate everybody :rotfl:

I do. I also a have a problem with Hugh Grant & Brad Pitt. I don't hate them I just do not enjoy them the way I used too.

DH loves Sienfield & did not get it about Krammer until he saw it on U TUBE then he was like WTH.

I'm not repulsed but more like :sad2: I lived in NY and dealt with A LOT of Kramers who were like Archie Bunker... no surprise to me.

I still watch it. I've always wondered if his rant was due to drugs. At any rate, people make mistakes and he apologized for it. It's still a funny show to me.

It's funny you mention that, I was going to start a thread on that very topic. Last night I was watching Lethal Weapon and noticed Mel Gibson's character saying several homophobic and racist comments. I was really surprised!! I know it came out in 1987 and the world was a very different place then...but still!! :scared1: That wouldn't be tolerated today, I don't think!!! If I were an actor, I think I would draw the line on a character that says stuff like that. But I guess Mel Gibson didn't have a problem with it. :sad2:

And yes, I feel different when I watch Mel Gibson's movies now. I just :sad2:

I used to feel that way when watching Seinfled right after the incident. We all make mistakes. I don't realy think about it anymore. I have always loved the show.

Seinfeld has always been one of those late nite shows I love to watch because it is basically *mindless* to me; meaning I don't have to think about anything just sit back and laugh after a long day. Michael Richard's incident doesn't change that for me at all.

No Kramer, no Mel Gibson. What did Eddie Murphy do?

i love this show, were watching it now i have all 7 seasons on dvd!!!

I've been wondering about that myself??? What did HE do?

I am not sure if him getting busted with a transvestite while still married is what is being referred to, may also be all his homophobic, sexist and racist jokes during his stand up days.

I'm not at all bothered by Michael Richards. To me, his rant was a lot more excusable than Mel Gibson's rant, or Isaiah Washington's rant. I guess because he was in the middle of a comedy act....those guys are digging deep and walking a very fine line of what is funny and what is offensive, and I think he just went off the deep end. I've seen a lot of comedians (both black and white) say pretty much the same thing he did, but in a funny way, and they weren't raked over the coals for it.

That isn't to say I think its right, but I can understand how it happened. I think he was "in the zone" and he just sort of lost it.

In answer to the original question, though, I watch the ocassional Seinfeld rerun and whenever I do I inevitably lmao. Its a funny show that has really been able to withstand time.
