Segway Tours in FW

I read on another thread that the Segway tours are being offered in FW. I would love to surprise my parents with this tour. Does anyone know how I would call to make arrangements for this? Thanks!

I am such a Disney nerd but I am answering my own question. The number for tours is 1-407-WDW-TOUR. I called them once I found the number and they said that they had no tours like that right now. I do remember on these boards that someone was told that they are going to be offering it soon. That will be fun!

I called after I read your post and the CM said that they don't have it in their computer yet but that if I read it on one of these "disney types" of web sites that it is probably true because we usually know before they do so keep trying back. I am looking to book for Feb. 2008 and she said that they wouldn't book that far out anyway. Thanks for letting me know.

I have been trying to book this for July 4th week. I have one scheduled on July 4th at 8:30 am for 4 people in Epcot. We did this last April and would love to do the one at FW but every time I call they do not have it in their computers yet. I even called FW directly and they said the same thing. I will keep trying to book this but if anyone get any additional information I would love to hear it. I heard from these boards it is in the testing stage and might be only CM that are on the tour.

This is one reason I love these boards.

I am also looking for the July movie schedule. We are not staying at FW but I heard you do not have to be staying there to go.

I'm going to ask a dumb question - why would you want to tour FW? Would it be just to see all the camping rigs? It couldn't possibly be as informative as Kiss to the Kingdom. There is no backstage tour, no "lunch included", no keepsake pin.

We did the Segway tour in Epcot last April. It was great. It started before the park opened with training and then they brought you into World Showcase before it opened. Yes, I agree that touring WS was great before the park opened. We are scheduled to do this tour again July 4th at 8:30am. They one at FW is supposed to be a kind of "off road" tour. Not sure how much I would like it but my boyfriends 18 year old son (who did it with us last April and will be taking it with us on July 4th) thinks the off road experience would be exciting. Not sure exactially how much "off road" it is but as we have already done the one in Epcot we would like to try something different.

Also, just as an FYI, we did get a special Segway pin that you only get when you take the two hour tour.

After reading this thread last night I found myself intrigued. We were considering booking the Epcot Segway tour, but we love FW and thought it would be fun to tour it on a Segway. I called the 407-WDW-TOUR number this morning and they had all the info on the tour which is doing a trial period from June 22nd thru Aug 11 at 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM. The CM was frustrated over the fact that she couldn't find a way to book it. She told me to call tomorrow AM and I MIGHT be able to book it then. I spoke to my TA about having the AP rate applied to my cabin stay and mentioned it to her. She called WDW for me and was able to book the tour for us So at 8:30 AM on Aug 11th, our last full day at Disney, we will be taking a FW Segway tour. The only catch is that no discounts can be applied because it is a trial.

Id be guessing you would be going on the trails that they have and some news trails that could have recently made.

Did the CM happen to mention what the minimum age is? Our DS's are 13, too young for the Epcot Segway tour but I feel like I read somewhere that the minimum age would be lower for the FW tour.

I am so excited to hear that it started. I hope that it catches on and will be something that they continue to do (atleast until I get there in Feb!). My3princes will you give us a little tour report after you get back???

The tour cost is $65 per person. They did say it was on trails at FW. They didn't mention the age limits or weight limits although when I googled the off road Segway it listed a weight limit of 250 lbs I will most definitely post a tour report when we get back.

OK - now I am really torn. I really want to do the Segway tour on July 4th in Epcot - I think that would be a great start to the holiday. But, I know my boyfriends son would love to do the one in FW. I'll have to call and get some info on it. I was going to surprise him but now I am not sure - maybe I should ask him which one he would rather do.

I'll call Disney this morning and try to get more info.

I called a little while ago and the CM I spoke to said the minimum age is 16, same as for the Epcot tour. Then my DW also called and spoke to a different CM who also said 16. So, it looks like a no-go for this summer. Our kids won't reach the minimum age until 2010, at which time I'll probably be over the maximum age!

I called today before going to lunch to find out more about the Segway tour at FW. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - the woman said "if you had called yesterday I would not have known what you are talking about" - they just found out this morning about the new tour in FW. So now I have two tours booked - one on 6/30 at FW and one on 7/4 at Epcot and I am not sure which one to keep - or if I should keep both.

I thought it would be really great to start our July 4th celebration with a Segway tour in Epcot - but - I'm sure it will also be great to be one of the first to do the tour in FW.

Here is the info she gave me. It is called the Backtrail Adventure - it is given on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday - there are two tours per day - one at 8:30 and one at 11:30 - and they are limiting the tour to 10 people per tour. Yes, the age is 16 and over. They are running the trial tours from June 22 to August 11. The price is 65.00 with no discount. It is still cheaper than the Epcot tour with a AAA discount as this tour is less expensive then the Epcot tour.

I booked the 8:30 tour figuring it should be a little cooler than at 11:30 - which would be right in the heat of the day - and this way we will have the rest of the day to do something else. It sounds alittle difficult to get there. We will be using our own car but we need to park near the front of the FW kennels and take the orange route bus to Settlement Depot. We are supposed to meet in front of Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

If anyone has taken this tour please give reviews here. I know I love the one at Epcot as I love Epcot but I am not sure if it will be borring riding around the trails at FW.

Any thoughts?
