I'm seriously thinking of doing the Segway tour in Epcot. Has anyone done it? Is it worth the money? Any reviews?

Thanks!

We did it last month, worth every penny (only $80 though), so much fun. We had Travis & Linda as out trainers/guides they were excellent! It was fun and easy to learn (even though my housemate drove into a *huge* plant pot in France in the World Showcase and broke the pot! :rotfl: ).

It wasn't as 'Disney' as any of the other tours we have done, it's more of an experience than a tour.

I'd say that it was one of the highlights of the whole holiday, I have never known anyone who didn't like it.

If you have any more specific questions I'd be happy to help out.

Paul.

I want to do it too but I'm afraid I'll fall off the Segway. :rotfl:

Does it feel safe and secure? Like could you fall off if you lean forward or back too far?

I'm sorta clumsy and I would probably hurt somebody or something... :earseek: :teeth:

We did the Segway Tour at the end of April. We loved it and look forward to doing it again. It was definately worth every penny we spent. You spend the 1st hour inside learning how to operate the segway (getting on it, moving forward, stopping, turning, up & down ramps, etc) The 2nd hour is spent outside going around World Showcase. You do a lot of weaving in & out through the countries. Through the gardens in China, the path by the train, weave through the pillars in Italy, through the fagrance garden in France, etc.

There are discounts for the Segway Tour if you have any of the following: AAA, AP, Disney Visa, or DVC Member.

My then 18 year old son did the tour, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. beofre you actually go riding through Epcot, there's instruction and practice, so you get comfortable on the segway. I'd say it's worth the money. I would have also done it, but funds were limited at the time. But definitely I'm doing it next time we're there.

Thanks, everyone! Looks like I'll be calling tomorrow to book the tour! :)

I've done it twice, once in July with DH and this Marcha with my oldest DD and my niece. We all thought it was great and would do it again.

In May, we booked the one hour Segway Experience tour (the 2 hour was booked up). Just one hour of instruction and a few minutes outside on a small course. After having finished the class, we were so disappointed that we we unable to have more time!! It was a blast. I'm not particularly athletic (ok, not at all) and I did just fine and loved every minute. I know that when we book another trip to WDW, we will be sure to book the full 2 hour tour of Epcot. Our class cost $45 ($38 with the AAA discount). I know the 2 hour tour is $80, but I'm sure it's well worth it. Have a wonderful time!

My mom was able to navigate the segway with no problem. We were really worried that she would have trouble and she didn't. I think the segway would be easy for anyone to use. The hardest part was standing still for 2 hours straight. I did a decent bit of one foot segway-ing while doing foot rolls to ease some of the pressure in my ankles. Worth every penny and I would do it again in a second. I've actually looked into doing segway tours in cities (DC is one).

Just hopping on the segway bandwagon!!!! My Dh did this in December and he LOVED it. His only wish was that he could have had more time!!!! LOL

He would book it again in a heartbeat, if he could skip the instructional period. He loved the little bits of info that they gave to you around EPCOT as well..

Have a fun trip!! :moped: <---closest thing to a segway I could find.... :earboy2:

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I just did the tour yesterday morning. It was a ball!

Our guide let us ride around a bunch of obstacles and skipped the "information" on the various pavilions, and I thanked her for that. I took the tour with a friend last December, and it was too much standing around hearing about the countries. I told our guide I liked it better to just ride, and she told me to write in and tell Disney that.

But no matter what, it's really fun to get to try something new, and to be in World Showcase before it opens. Lovely!

We did it last summer and are doing it again next month.

Don't worry about feeling wobbly at the beginning. Eventually you'll get it. And if they see you feel more insecure than others, they'll pull you aside and work more carefully with you -- they did that with me and my daughter. But even she and I were whirling around like pros by the time we got out into the park.

It's great fun. I'm so happy they still have it so we can do it again.

This is a great tour especially if you are into hi-tech gadgets.
We did this in January and really enjoyed it. I would definitely do it again.
By the way, you can book it for $68 using a AAA or AP discount.
The HT is very safe as long as you follow the rules. It is almost impossible to tip it over. It is an amazing piece of machinery.
I would highly recommend this tour.

Mike,

I've never seen the Reflections of Earth globe out on the water at Epcot during the day. What time in the am was that picture taken?

The photo was taken during our 8:30 AM tour so it was around 9:45 or so. For some reason, they brought it out that morning but I don't remember why. We had to wait patiently on our HTs as the drawbridge opened, it passed through, and the drawbridge closed again. It was pretty interesting but we lost about 10 minutes of our cruising time. ;)

What are the requirements? Ages?

You must be 16 or older and weigh less than 250 pounds.

I can't recommend this tour enough! We loved it. When the class was over, I didn't want to get off my Segway. I'd like to do it again, but wish they would offer an "intermediate" level tour for those who have done the class already. Perhaps 15 minutes re-aquainting with the Segway & then all cruising.

I have heard others say that they think the class would be a waste of time and that just anyone can jump on a segway and ride it. Mind you most of these people have never ridden a segway or even been to Disney! :confused3 So I have no idea where they got this concept.

What do you think? Could you have just stepped up to it and ridden away? :earseek:
