Segway tour of Celebration

Celebration is where the first Segway dealer was many years ago (they also owned the dealership in Key Biscayne). They have since gone out of business but DW and I bought our first segways from them and took our new owner training through the streets of Celebration. there are few places I can think of that are better for such an experience. Most tour operators still limit guests to slow speeds but I agree, No slow key for me. Enjoy your Glide!

There is still a speed limit but it is 12 mph instead of the 6 mph that Disney uses on their tours. I think actual max speed is 17 or 18 mph. That would be faster than I am comfortable with though. 12 mph is just fine.

I got so excited when I saw a 12 year old could do it...but after checking out their site it says the minimum weight is 100lbs. My 12 year old daughter is a light weight! She probably won't hit 100 until adulthood!

It's still a fairly new business that isn't well known yet. I booked it on Saturday for the next Tuesday. He had two other groups before us that day so I'm assuming he had room for a lot more.

Thanks for the link!

I stopped by yesterday April 07, 2010 around 11:30am and made an appointment (local rides) for today April 08, 2010 at 11:00am.

Local prices:
05 minutes - $5
10 minutes - $10
20 minutes - $15
30 minutes - $20

They are located close to "Marker 10" on Hwy 192. Markers posted along the roadside at least 3x bigger than speed limit signs. Turn in where there is a helicopter by the roadside. Look for the Helicopter Tours next to the Rock Church.

Talking about a fairly new business, this photo is taken across from the Helicopter Tours (helicopter pad site). I made our appointment inside this garage!!

Call and ask them. Know what your daughter's weight is when you call. You never know...

Yup, that's it! That's where you get the Segways. Which tour did you book? We did the 90 minute tour of Celebration but it is actually quite a bit longer at the 20 minutes to get there and 20 minutes back aren't counted in the 90 minutes for the tour.

Thanks for updating this Inkmahm! I missed it the first time around. DH & I would love to do this sometime. We did the one in Epcot and I'll have to say I was nervous about it and did it more as a surprise for our anniversary because I knew he would love it. I think I loved it more than he did. And we have always wanted to visit Celebration. Sounds like a great experience! :thumbsup2

I did the local 20 minutes for $15 because of time and reservation. I would definitely go back next time to do the longest tour. I'm a first-time rider, after the 5-minutes training, and I'm able to do zip-zag moves, 360-degree spins, etc.

Thanks again for the website link!

You're welcome!

The shorter tours are probably good for people who have not been on Segways before and are nervous as to whether they will like it or not. But I've never met anyone on a Segway tour yet who did NOT like it!

If you can swing the time and $, I highly suggest first timers try for the longer tours to start with.

Curious, anybody knows what is the best way to get to celebration from wdw?

WDW is huge so it depends on where in WDW you are starting from. If you can get yourself to International Drive, you can get to Celebration. The\
Segway tour is on International Drive at Marker number 10.

We did this tour last October and had a blast! Dale is very knowledgeable and fun. It is worth the $$$ and time. You get much more than you pay for!

Thanks for the info. Cut/pasted into our WDW info folder. Thinking on how to get to Intl Drive and marker 10 since we usually do not rent a car. Maybe I'll talk my neighbor into making a WDW trip with us, she likes to rent a car and drive around<G>

I found this tour on the internet and we tried it this week. The tour consisted of just me and Dh plus the guide but it can take up to 6 people at a time. We booked the longest tour but they have tours as short as 5 minutes for you to just try the Segway. The 90 minute tour is $70 and really isn't 90 minutes- it is more like 130 to 140 minutes. The 90 minutes is just the tour of Celebration and it takes about 20 minutes each way on the Segway to get there.

We loved this tour! Also, children as young as 12 can go. The speed is limited to 12 mph but that is still a lot faster than the Disney Segway tours. I highly recommend this tour if you love Segways as much as DH and I do!

Thanks for the info. I had no idea they had these tours. Sounds like a fun family day.

I think Dale needs to advertise more!

Well, I just passed on the info to another DVC family that loves segways. Happy, satisfied customers like you passing on the info works and sometimes better. Thanks for the info!!

I've done the 90 minute tour of Celebration twice with Dale and I'm sure we'll be doing it again in the future. The second took a different path than the first so we saw different things. Of course, I LOVE all of Celebration!
