Segway Tour....money ?

The online booking site states "Insurance requires that City Segway Tours hold a 500 EUR damage deposit per party on the day of the reservation. Please bring your MasterCard, Visa, or Discover".

Excuse my ignorance....but would a damage deposit mean they are actually going to charge my card and then refund it at the end of the tour (hence incurring charges) or that they are just holding the card in case of damages?

I'm not sure exactly, but what a lot of places do is they kind of reserve the money on your card, but don't actually take it unless they need to
