From AllEars weekly newsletter:

After a limited test run earlier this year, the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure Segway Tour is now a permanent offering at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Tour participants can take a Segway X2 Personal Transporter to view the scenery of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Wilderness Lodge. Call 407-939-8687 (WDW-TOUR) for more details.

I just called: Details:

$85.00 per person, offered Tuesday, Friday, Saturday at 8:30 am and 11:30 am, approximately 2 hours.

Wow - all of a sudden, a golf cart looks pretty darn affordable. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the info! Might just have to try 'em one of these days.

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

We just booked for the morning of 10/30. I'm an Epcot Segway vet, so I'm looking forward to offroading at FW.

Another positive is that we don't have to worry about early morning transportation to this tour.

These sound fun -- I have a couple of questions for the Segway vets!

Is there an age limit? Can younger riders ride with you?

Would you recommend the Epcot or FW tour?

THANKS!
Debbie

The minimum age is 16 for the Segway tours, and the Segway transports are single passenger only. Once you experience gyroscopic balancing of the Segway, you'll understand why you'd never want more than one person riding one.

I haven't taken the FW tour yet, but I'd reccomend the Epcot tour for a 1st time experience.

You get to use the more nimble Segway PT, and tour the World Showcase while it's empty, before the park opens. Then, you get to head back through Future World while that side is starting to build a crowd. It was a great feeling watching the jealous Future World crowds stand aside while our group cruised through on our Segways.

The FW Tour will give me chance to try out the beefier offroad Segway XT. I think the FW Tour makes a natural follow-up to those who have done the Epcot tour.

I just called and booked the Segway at FWL! I was also suprised to hear that FWL Segway is part of the premium package! We had to pay for the 2 hour segway at Epcot, so no idea why it is "free"(part of the premium package) at FWL and not at Epcot.

Carol -- what sort of Premium package do you have? (Would I know if I had it from my paperwork??!)
PLEASE let us know what you think of the tour -- I am thinking it would be fun for us to try in November!

FWDISFAN,

The Magic Your Way Premium Package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner every day at a table service restaurant, and also includes activities such as mini golf, parasailing, carriage ride, boats, golfing, bike rentals, prefered seating at illuminations,1 hour Segway at Epcot,Cirque de Soleil tickets, admissions to various tours at all of the parks etc. It works out to being an extra 1,000 more than the regular Disney Dining Plan for us for 5 nights/six days.

We figured that in order to break even,we(2 people) need to spend about 250.00 a day on food and activities. We decided to go to do the parasailing(135.00 for 2 people when not on the plan) mini golf(25.00) Segway at WL(170.00) and Cirque(160.00).

So if you are interested in all the extra activities....and like to eat alotpopcorn:: this plan is a good idea.Needless to say, we are going to be VERY busy(and tired!) because we feel like we have to in order to break even.

As for the Segway, YOU will have to tell Me about it because you are getting there first! :cool2: We will be there Dec 15-21 2007. Enjoy your trip!!

That is so incredible! I just asked last week about this tour and they said they had a run in August but had no idea when it would be permanent!

Oh now I have to go back to do this one! :cool1:

I saw the sign for the tour last weekend when I was at the fort. The sign for it is over near Crockets tavern. I think the had it positioned so the Hoop de do crowd would see it. Looks like fun! But its a bit pricey. Let us know how it goes. I bet you'll learn about the Fort....
