There is a new tour at Epcot involving the Segway! Oh, it's pricey but my DH and my friend's DH were thrilled. So we splurged and got a DVC discount on it and all four of us are doing it March 6th.

They teach you how to ride it, using orange cones and such, and then you get to go out into World Showcase before it opens and ride around.

Wheeee-eeeeee

This is gonna be fun!

Tour is $80 for 2 hours and 15% discount with various cards (Disney Visa, DVC, AP etc, the usual).

I saw that- totally cool! You will have to report back and let us know how it is. Imagine- zipping about through World Showcase before it is open!

I think I remember the age limit being 16 but that a parent/guardian has to be signed up too and sign waivers and such.

Have fun!

Here's the blurb off of wdwig

Around the World at Epcot --
on a Segway!

A brand new tour is being introduced in Epcot. Beginning February 14, 2004, you'll be able to travel Around the World at Epcot on a Segway, those futuristic-looking upright transportation devices on which you sometimes see Cast Members zipping around Epcot.

The tour, which will last two hours, will be offered daily at 8:45 a.m. The first hour of the tour will teach safety rules and allow you to practice riding the Segway, while the second hour will be a tour around World Showcase before it officially opens to visitors.

Cost for the new tour is $80 (park admission is NOT included).

Some restrictions apply: Minimum age is 16 (guardian must sign a waiver for ages 16 and 17), maximum weight for participants is 250 pounds, and expectant mothers and persons with special needs may not participate due to safety concerns.

A 15 percent discount will be available for AAA and Disney Vacation Club members, as well as Annual Passholders, Disney VISA cardholders, and Disney Cast Members. A photo ID will be required at the time of the tour.

My husband and i rode Segways on the Disney Wonder and it was a blast! We only got ten minutes each, and we did bump into things a little at first, but it's really fun!! REALLY fun! I would love to do this tour!

Does anyone know if this tour will be included in any of the dream maker packages - ie the gold dream maker. Several other tours are currently included so maybe this one too? Anyone?

Awesome! We just signed up for 15 Feb. No more than 10 people per class. Everytime we go to Epcot my DW comments on the Segways. I'll be sure to post a review of the tour when we get back.

disboo - awesome job on the 82 lbs! Congrats! Where can you ride Segways on the Wonder???

jpd3 - that's great about the 10 people, I didn't think to ask. Had a good joke with the CM at wdw-tour. When she said we'd be in WS before it opens so we don't "hit" anyone, I told her I thought I could get a few before I leave FW! Watch out Mickey!

My DH - every time he sees a Segway, he's fascinated by it. I'm the Disney nut and whenever we go, I ask him if he wants to do a tour and he always declines - but this one he said yes right away!

honeymo78 - give them a call at 407-wdw-tour and maybe they will know.....

Just signed up also for late Feb. Sounds really fun and something special to do.

By the way WDW TOUR said no discount for AAA, but I did get a discount with Disney Visa (15%)

That sounds like so much fun! I saw some employees zooming around on them on my last trip and they looked like SO much fun! I am so glad they have new tours available! I am counting down the days - is it December yet?

DH would absolutely love to do this...Where can I get more info???

Where do you get info / sign up for this. I was down there in December with my family and my dad and I were checking it out at innovations. We talked to the guy using it for a good half hour and asked if we could try. He said he could not, but that they were working on something, I guess this is it.

Thanks,

We're signed up for Feb 18th after seeing the posting on Deb Wills site - final cost with AP's is $136. Really looking forward to trying them. We always try to include one new thing per trip and this is definitely "new!" Can't wait!! :teacher:

Y'all are going to have a BLAST!!

A friend of mine owns one and had it here at our house. We have some pretty steep hills and Joe got that baby going!!

Touring Epcot vie a Segway will be so much fun!!:moped: (closes thing we had to looking like a Segway!)

Oh by the way...do you know who had the very FIRST Segway? That guy in the B.C. comic strip!!!:p

Have a great time and let us know how it goes!

Call 407-WDW-TOUR to get information and to book the tour

Baloo - you would have to stretch my mind a bit to remember what in BC was like a Segway?

D4D - not yet, but let me get thru my March trip first and then I'll count down to Dec with you! Looks like we will be there two days before you!

The one caveman...can't remember his name...that ran around the comic strip on a single wheel!!!
