We are going for 3 weeks this year has we all have special birthdays, Norman & I reach the big five O and Stephen will be 13. For Norman I am planning a massage/spa morning at SSR, we're staying there. For Stephen I've looked at the surfing lesson at Typhoon Lagoon but I have seen reports of Segways at Epcot, that he might enjoy. I can't seem to find any info on it, so would love any help on either or any other activity/treat. Perfer in Disney as we don't have a car.

The Segway tour is called Around the World at Epcot (make sure your browser can access the US site - click HERE first)
The only thing is you have to be 16 - my son is nearly 13 and would love to do it (so would I, but I'd be given too hard a time if I did it on my own :sad2:)

What about the mickey sea racers - my DD loved those and it is great fun going around Seven Seas Lagoon, although there are other places to use them too:thumbsup2

yes, you have to be 16 for the epcot segway tour - and they do check IDs to confirm the kids are old enough (must be insurance related)

the surfing lesson at Typhoon Lagoon is great...my kids took it at that age and loved it...
in fact, they did it two years in a row...

here's DS at the surfing lesson...this was when he was 15 ....

The Disney Tours are quite expensive but there is a REALLY good tour company that do tours of Celebration on Segways, they are much cheaper and the tours last much longer. You get a tour of the town and then do the lake and the woods area - you can see gators normally!!

they are called www.zetours.com

Just checked and would have been great but you have to be 14, so maybe next year if we can go. Also, you have to be a min of 150lb & Stephens quite slight so will have to feed him up.

Actually, the minimum weight is 100 lbs - can't imagine there are that many 14 year-olds who weigh 150 lbs, even if it is in America lol

Also, although it says that insurance covers 14 years and up, they may still let him do it on the basis that he just wouldn't be covered on their insurance. It coud be worth contacting them to ask.

I know Disney definitely won't let you do it if you're under 16 but this company may concede.

no problem with age with the celebration segways ours was 14 when he did and as long as you can stand up they will take you
We have done the sea screamer at Clearwater,Boggey creak airboats and the sea racers at the poly, were looking into the richard petty experance for the next one

Stephens not 13 till August. Thanks for the suggestions, but he seems to have developed a fear of crocodiles so I think it will be the surfing. Don't fancy the early start though.

Stephen's only about 75lb, so we may have to wait awhile yet.

Thanks but don't think I could take the risk, we will wait & I will use this as my "but we've got to go back to try it card".
