Segmenting and dining plans

Have things improved with the ease (or lack-there-of) regarding MS cast members understanding how to segment a reservation so that the dining plan can be added for part? I'm going to call one of these days to split an existing reservation, and I'm hoping that it's not so complicated as it seemed to be at first.

We just got back from our trip - split stay. One night SSR w/QSDP. 4 night AKV w/ DDP.

It worked well, the booking CM got it right. HOWEVER, one glitch. The morning we checked out of SSR, they canceled our room keys, but also canceled the cards for QSDP (found out at the register at CS in Mexico!) we had not yet checked into AKV and gotten our room keys, so it took some doing to get it fixed. It may not be an issue if you are not changing resorts, but I have heard you might need to get new cards so show the credits properly.

If you do QSDP or Deluxe DP first and get a mug but then segment and/or use the regular DDP later in the trip, do you only have use of your mug for the nights of your QSDP/DlxDP? Thank you!

You can use the mug. You're still at the same resort on the same stay.
