Hi,
I need to both identify and find an old pin I once had. I just saw the artwork for it in the beginning of the film Our Friend The Atom from 1957.
It was not a solid pin with enamel work like the usual pins. It was a clutch back lapel pin in gold tone of an atom. The center was an image of the western hemisphere encircled by three electrons (making 6 elipses encircling the earth. The space around and between the electrons were open so you could see through them.
In the film Walt holds up a piece of artwork depicting this as he is talking about Tomorrowland. There is no image of this artwork in the book Our Friend The Atom; I checked.
I hope my description is understandable; I may need to make a color drawing of it or do a frame-grab from the film.
If anyone has ever seen this pin they will probably remember it since it is not your usual style Disney pin. It looks like an insignia for the Nuclear Navy, but must have been a promotional item for either Tomorrowland or the film.
I have already searched the archive of the pinpics group to no avail. Thanks for your time, and feel free to pass my contact info around should someone care to contact me. I have lost my pin and would like to have one or more of them if possible!
