We have used Delta out of Bangor the last couple of years. This year was $218/person round trip, BGR-DET-MCO, MCO-ATL-BGR Sept 2010. We use the park and fly at the Ramada most years they shuttle you to and from the airport for free. Alway arrive the day before our flights out of Halifax anyway so the couple hours extra to Bangor isn`t an issue, we make it part of the trip shopping diner out etc.

-How were the stopovers?
-How much did the Ramada average?
-How much time for travel?

I'm thinking this would be very doable for us.

Just a word of caution about Allegiant Air. They are great to fly with but they do not fly into MCO in Orlando. Instead they fly to Sanford Airport in Orlando which is quite a distance from Walt Disney World and is not serviced by Magical Express.

Since earlier this year, Allegiant has operated some flights into MCO rather than SFB. Currently there's nothing really convinient to Atlantic Canada (the closest MCO service is from Allentown, Pa.). However, there have been rumours that they will be continuing to transfer more and more services to MCO over time, including the flights from Bangor.

As an example ... my November trip. Leave Halifax Nov 1 Drive all day to Manchester. I estimate 100 in Gas. Park and Fly, just over $100.

Airfare for 4 people was booked for $557 including fees and taxes. Both ways.

Ted: what are your airlines details for that price....sounds too good to be true !!

Fly 6:00 am MHT to CLT (1hr stop over)
CLT to MCO arrives 11:00am

Nov 10
Fly 7:55am MCO to PHL (1.2 hr stop over)
PHL to MCO arrives before 1pm

Bought 4 tickets when they were listing $98 return without taxes and fees. Early July.
Fares now show a cost of $262 taxes/fees in (per person)
Recently, I have seen them advertised for $118 return without taxes and fees. Last week or the week before. Watch airfarewatchdog!

Just as an additional note:

I see $79 fares, each way out of Manchester by southwest (so this would be just over $200 per person). Although, this is a higher fare, there are no bag fees.

Ramada runs around $90-$100, there are cheaper hotels but they charge to park or only shuttle 1 way. Don't really like the Ramada but it has the best service.

There are useually 1 stop over each way and total travel time has averaged about 5-7hours, we prefer a later flight so tend to travel a little longer. Bangor offers a fair number of out going flights we tend to have 6-8 that fit our needs.

Checked bags are $25, we take 1 and 3 carry ons, and have plenty of room for our things. Our larger bag is mostly for taking things back we bought at WDW.

Hope this helps we are very happy with Delta's service and keep using them 3years in a row tend to save about $1000 each time over Halifax or Moncton, for the 3 of us.

I've checked Portland and it's the same price as Bangor for most flights, seems like they tend go to the same conecter flight, so not sure why people seem to be driving the extra few hours to Portland.
