Seeking info on Vacation Club Points

How do I Buy or rent vacation club points for stays at disney can someone give me the in' and outs? How many reguired points are needed? Why would I want to buy points?

I am assuming you are referring to "renting" points from a DVC member. It's very easy to do but requires trust on both sides. There is an entire Rent/Trade board in this forum as well as links on the top of this page to the DVC point chart. You basically determine what dates you want to travel, what accomodations you want, and where you want to stay, and it gives you the number of points needed. The going rate is $10-$12+ per point. Sometimes you can get a price lower than that but it is usually for very short notice or in special circumstances.

The benefit of renting is that you get a DVC villa at a cost much lower that booking through Disney's CRO. You pay the owner directly through whatever means they allow and they make the reservation in your name. At all times, they control the ressie...that's where the trust comes in. Also, the change/cancellation policies are much stricter for DVC, so there isn't the same flexibility there might be booking through Disney. Basically you are getting all the benefits without shelling out the thousands of dollars to purchase a contract.

It is not a big deal I use to do it before I was a member. I have some extra points right now, if you are interested. If you give me the dates I can check for you the availablity. I only have 84 points, so a studio would be the best.

Question. If I wanted to go to say wilderness villas in Dec of 2006 how do I find the points to cover the time. Any Idea of how many points it would take for a 10 nite stay for 2 people.

You would need to provide the exact dates and what type of room you want (studio or 1 bdrm) as December falls into three different point categories depending on when you are traveling.

You can view the points needed by using the DVC Point Chart at the top of the page. There is even a variance between the 2nd and 3rd weeks in December, so the exact dates are important.

Once you know the room size and exact dates, just post your request on the Rent/Trade Board and see if a memebr can assist with your needs.
