Seeking help from photographers regarding MPIX.com

Thanks to the great info I received on these boards, I am going to be ordering my DDs senior pictures through MPIX. The photographer takes 2 hours worth of photos, does the editing, etc. and gives us the disc to do with what we wish.

My question is this: what kind of paper, finish, etc. should I choose in order to get some great looking, high quality photos?

Has anyone ever used them for canvas photos?

I did use them and got a great quality product from them. I don't think you can go wrong. For professional looking portraits I prefer lustre over glossy. But if you are going with canvas, you don't have to worry about that.

I usually print at adoramapix.com instead of mpix.com, mostly because they offer more paper types at a lower cost. IMO, the quality is comparable to mpix.com. I printed my son's senior pics on Kodak Professional Endura Supra Lustre. It has a very subtle sheen, but doesn't pick up fingerprints. Before you do a big order anywhere, you might want to order a few test prints first to make sure you are happy with the paper, etc.

FYI...if the photographer is editing the images, make sure you check the option to NOT have mpix, adorama, or whomever to color correct the images.

Edit: another thing I'll add...most people typically send out small wallet size pics in the graduation announcements. I found that it was a very similar price to print either a 4x5 or 4x6 at Adorama, so that was what we went with. We received a lot of positive comments from people who were happy to get something bigger than the typical wallet size print.
