I have never seen the castle with the projects and fire works up close. I’ve seen some off to the side, thru trees, from BLT, but not right in front. This trip , that is on my bucket list. I’ve seen people sitting around the planters and it seems like a good idea. I plan to do this on one of our “no park” days. So just going in mk for this purpose. This will be beginning of Dec, how long before fireworks should one try to stake out spot?

Another option to consider is the dessert fireworks party that includes a special area in the gardens out in front of the castle for seating/viewing. We did that our last trip and it was a great spot.

Just make sure it's not a night there is a Christmas Party and you wouldn't be able to get in w/o the special event ticket.

Good idea, but I’m too cheap. 😂

Opps I was replying about dessert party.

I am super short (4'11), so I struggle with the view. My best advice is to move back on Main Street towards the railroad station. It is a lot less dense there than up closer to the castle and you can see the castle in the distance and the projections around you in Main Street. And you can move around, which is key because, invariably, someone taller than you will jump in front or someone will put a kid up on their shoulders and block your view. If you are in the area from Casey's and forward, you don't have a way to move.

I was hoping to plant myself by one of those planters near the castle. Willing to wait an hour or two. Just don’t know how time is enough. I figure, find spot, pulled out phone , charger and dinner. I’m good. I can listen to an audio book and people watch.

If you stand with one of the planters in front of you it offers a great buffer where other guests cannot stand. You likely would need to stake out a spot there 90mins - 2hours early.

I have not tried the planters, but in party season, people start staking spots *early* as in, we’ve looked for spots 45-60 minutes before and things are already very crowded. You will also need to stand your ground because the CMs try to get you to move to make space for others. I like your idea of getting there early and listening to an audio book and people watching!

We're visiting in early January, and I would *LOVE* to know what you see in early December. How early to get a spot behind one of the planters around the fountains? It's a trip where I wouldn't mind waiting, but want to know if it's 90 minutes or 2 hours.
