We are from the land locked Midwest, and want to take a day to see the ocean while in WDW next year. I know there have to be threads on this, but I'm not running across any! When should we plan for this? Before, in the middle of, or after our WDW fun? I've been to Cocoa Beach, but am wondering if we might enjoy the Gulf. Sanibel Island looks beautiful. Any advice?

The gulf is very nice, if you want to see the ocean I highly recommend Jetty Park at port canaveral. It is 45 min from Disney , very nice, and you can see the cruise ships.

We love Cocoa Beach and we love St. Pete... I have friends who adore Sanibel Island. The gulf is very different and a great experience. St. Pete had very warm, calm waters. We even had devil rays swim right up to us. The sand was beautiful and overall just a great beach getaway!

I second jetty park, as this was recommend by locals friends of ours. If you are bringing your RV there is a RV park right there, along with small beach shop. If you want tourist trap, head to coco. if want laid back hit jetty. If I remember travel over and back pretty easy with toll lane?? Also have spent time over in clearwater - a long time ago and gulf is nice as well.

If you want a really fun. laid back beach vacation, head to gulf shores, AL on you next trip.
