Its now been a year since nearly EXDh dropped his bombshell of an affair.

Although he agreed in the separation agreement to hold off making any moves on the house till this march, when i was supposed to start the divorce, I have after a great CHristmas and New year with my family and friends made an appointment to start proceedings this Tuesday. as i feel the need to move onwards and upwards with my life (holiday Jan 2006 booked as you can see.!)

Any one able to offer what will happen in my meeting on Tuesday and any idea how long it will be before ex is "notified" of my intentions. No children to consider, just a house sell (possibly!) and the sorting out of my claim on his pensions. I am not looking forward to this as i can see it get very nasty. Any personal experiences on this awful time to come much appreciated. Many thanks ali.

Sorry you are having to go through this, I know how you feel, my husband left me seven years ago after having an affair with my friend(was my friend). I started divorce proceedings about six months after he left because like you I felt I had to move onwards and upwards, but it was'nt easy.

At the first of many meetings with my solicitor, we discussed what grounds I wanted to divorce him on (ADULTRY PLEASE)was I prepared to name her(DEFINATLY)and then things like most importently for me our daughter who was only 7 at the time, the house, pensions, money, etc etc.

He recieved notification about 5 days later, and it took about six months, many letters and visits to my solicitor before it was all sorted out. I know of people who get this done quicker and I know people who have taken longer, but the latter is normally if there are Children involved.

I know this probably feels like the hardest thing you will have to go through right now, but believe me it does get better.

I had very little confidence left when he left me, but I thought life goes on for me and my daughter, so exactley 18 months after he left I booked for Vicki and I to go to Florida on our own, I was extremlry nervous as I had never been abroad on my own before, but we done it loved it and have been 3 more times since with another booked for this August and a 7 day Disney cruise next August. I have learnt to drive and life at the moment is pretty dam good. Look to the future with your head held high, you will get through the next difficult months. I hope all go's well for you and if I can help any further please let me know.

I've no experience of this either but I think it's amazing how far you have come since this happened - so good to read that you are ready to move on AND UP...... you go girl :) :) :) :)

Very best of luck with the necessary meetings etc. - I really hope that it does not get nasty. I wish you lots of courage and strength to get you through.
