Seeing pink

Ah ha! Thanks Sue!

During our last trip they routed DW and I into the FP line at space mtn (which btw, is wider and easier to steer through than the regular line) but, I was sure we'd used the regular line before. When we asked about it, we were told that there were stairs. I figured I must have just gotten queues mixed up or mixed up the fact that I have had to use stairs to get from the boarding area to the unloading area when my DW rode without me.

But, the adjustable queue idea makes perfect sense since so many of the other attractions have such things.
And they would know which section of queue they are using, so would know whether or not the queue was accessible.

I had known it before Shorty and Chuck posted, but I hadn't really put 2 and 2 together to explain why sometimes one person posts the line had steps and someone else posted it had no steps. Seeing both of them posting gave me one of those "Ah-ha!" moments.

I knew about the adujustable queues but didn't hink of that as the reason. I never realized that Space Mountain's queue was so adjustable. I didn't think it is as flexible as it seems to be, I thought it was one of the rides where you wind up waling most of the length of the queue no matter how busy it is.

I can understand how it may look to some that the one with the handicapp is getting special treatment and there family too. When we board the bus I actually feel bad because no one can get on until our family does there is 6 of us including the one in the wheelchair. It would be ashamed if we had to wait to get on the bus and lets say it was packed and we couldnt get on with the others in our party. People stare and I can tell what there thinking and they have said oh we got to wait for the wheel chair person in disgust. I just wonder how that makes the one with the disibility feel. I don't really think there saying this is wonderful I get to get on this bus or ride before you do. Its nice that disney trys its best to accomodate those who need it but it's ashamed that some do take advantage of this and makes it look bad for those who really need it. My 8 year old grandaughter who is missing part of her brain really doesnt understand it that much so thats ok. I figure she waits enough for doctor appts and hospitals so when we go to disney we hope we have some magic for her and Im not going to worry anymore how others look at us. Sorry if this upsets some but its reality.

mickeyminniefan2, If you don't mind me asking, what is your dear granddaughter's diagnosis? I ask because my DD6 is missing part of her brain also. She has Severe Bi-Lateral Open-Lipped Schizencephaly. She is an angel on earth, as I am sure your DGD is also (and all our special need kiddos) .
We will be a party of six this December, with two in wheelchairs and one using a stroller as a wheelchair. I am just not going to let impatient people get to me. We do the best we can to wait like everyone else, but like you said we wait more in life than most people do (dr appts, hospital, etc)!! Hope you have a magical next trip!!

This is OT, but Mason7AK- I love that picture in your siggie. So sweet!:goodvibes

My gd is 8 with abscence of her corpus collosum which is the part that connects her two lobes together. Think of it as two cities that are seperated by a river but no bridges to get to each other. She may have a slight sliver they say. But not seen on xray. She is doing very well.Didnt think she would walk , talk, but she is mastering that. Shes at a level half her age right now. Were just happy she is doing as well as she is could be much worse. She is the love of our life. We will be in disney also from Dec 23 until Jan 6th at the campground. Where are you staying and what are the dates. She has a stroller wheelchair and her other grandma made a top for it it looks like a surrey. Cant believe they wanted 200.00 more for one with the wheelchair. The chair is maroon in color. Ashley has long blonde hair and is just beautiful thats the grandma coming out. Maybe you will see us were going to MK on the 26th.

Thanks so much! We were walking down the street in Adventureland when a CM stopped us and asked if we had met Captain Jack Sparrow yet. When we said no, he ushered us in the back way and Captain Jack was soooo sweet to my DD (that's her in the siggie pic), all the while staying in character - it was too cute! It was a little "dream" for me - LOL - as I LOVE Captain Jack! But DD sure enjoyed it too - she was smiling up a storm, just like mom!

MickieMinnieFan2,
We are going December 1st - 9th, so we will miss you and your DGD :( , but maybe next time! I know all about the river in the middle of the two cities - my DD has a river running through the middle of her brain too. She can't walk or talk (at least not in the way most of us do), but her smiles are the sweetest and she coos like a baby when she is happy, and we wouldn't trade her for all the healthy children in the world (though we sometimes wish she could BE one of those healthy children, KWIM)! We love the Disney magic and what it does for her - she is the smiliest and loudest and happiest when she is in the WORLD! :goodvibes
Okay, back to the topic now! Sorry for being OT! :thumbsup2

Hey, we'll be there from Dec 2nd-8th. We'll watch out for you. Hope to see you there. Karen

I would be one of those people who would be waiting while my party boarded at Space Mountain. The reason? I would want to visit with my family while they're in the queue line. If I didn't accompany them, I'd be sitting with my service dog "people watching". It's okay for awhile, but what about ALL day? I can't ride many attractions since I can't transfer, so should I be relegated to sitting outside attractions while the rest of my family has a good time? As was mentioned above, I'd have been pulled out of the regular queue line with my party at some point but we would still wait and not have "front of the line" privileges. My wait time would have been quite a bit longer, since basically I spend the whole day waiting and hardly ever riding.---Kathy

Kathy...Thanks for posting that. As the parent of a child in a wheelchair, I had never thought of that! :sad2: If DD didn't want to go on a ride, my husband and I would take turns sitting outside with her. Maybe next time we'll let her go in with us, and then we can just take turns waiting with her at the ride. I'm sure there are some rides we might not be able to do that, but I'm sure I'll try next time!
