Looking for anyone who has been here recently that maybe can update me!
When we were there last September we had a VERY late dinner ADR (it was all I could get for the whole week!). We noticed after checking in that Mickey was at the spot where you line up to have your family photo taken...instead of what I believe used to be a statue of Mickey?
They told us that Mickey no longer walks around to the tables, and this was where you had your picture with him done. There was a very long line and we were told we could do this after we ate. Well, when we were done eating...Mickey was LEAVING. He was literally walking towards the door by the kitchen. I almost burst into tears I was so disappointed. My then 2 year old followed him and I just watched, still feeling like I was going to cry. Well, the man that was walking with him saw my son, stopped Mickey and said something to him...Mickey turned around, came back to my son, got down on a knee and gave him some special attention. I was overwhelmed...even thinking about it a year later my eyes are welling up. If we had been one minute later this wouldn't have happened and we would have missed out on seeing him. Anyway, that's a very long story, lol, but my question is...is this still the way they do things or does Mickey come around to the tables?? We have a much earlier dinner on 9/11 this year so this shouldn't be an issue either way...I'm just curious what to expect. Thanks so much!!!

From what I remember, for a period they tried the "take a picture with a mickey statue" thing and it didnt fly very well with the customers. Many complained. Thats why they brought Mickey back.

Oh that is great news, thank you! I had wondered if this was something they were "testing" when we were there...I had never seen them do this before...I didn't like it! :)

I was there the week of this past July 4th ... i saw the statue Mickey you were talking about. if you are walking in it is all the way to the right just before you enter the dining area.

My family and I went for breakfast and we did have Mickey stop at our table. Good luck!

Thank you all so much for responding! I know it's not a HUGE deal but I was hoping it had changed. :)
I think (like most people I'm sure) the advantage of a character meal is that the characters come to YOU! When I was told we had to wait in line to see Mickey I thought that was crazy...never mind the fact that they told me we could do it after dinner and he was GONE! :(
Thank you!!!

It would be a huge deal for us! Mickey is my son who just turned 3's best friend! Last Sept he came to our table and hugged my son got a picture, etc and went on to the next table, well my son who just turned 2 started crying "Gickey, Gickey" and after Mickey finished at the next table he came back to our son for another hug and a high five. It made my 2 year olds day! We actually have 2 ressies there for this trip, one dinner one breakfast because our son needs to see Mickey (yes he says it correctly now LOL) as much as possible!
