Where does this excursion stop for shopping? Is it the same place that is listed on Barb's (Dave's?) excursion stops? Ive seen a map of the stores and each store listed.
This excursion stops for an hour and Id like to have an idea of the stores that are available. Most likely DH will be looking for cigarettes and Kahlua. Thanks

Good morning Barb,
Like every other Wednesday.....are we really in the 20's? Matthew's construction paper chain is getting so small. (we started at 125 days!) Do you think this month is going to drag or fly by? Its crunch time!!!!!:Pinkbounc

lol - I just saw you were online so sent you email and now I open this and you are also counting in the 20's! If Nov goes as quick as Oct went we'll be on&off the ship before we know it. Nov has Veterans Day holiday wknd, parent/teacher conferences, my birthday, etc so there are little countdowns before the MAGIC!!

Sea & See stops on the French side, where we saw clothing, perfume, cigar/cigarette and liquor shops. Most of the merchandise was pretty pricey, although I bought a tie-dye shorts outfit in their flea market that was not too expensive.

When we returned to the ship, we had lunch and there was plenty of time to explore the Dutch side's shopping. We took the ferry boat over to Downtown, and it was definitely more affordable.

Is there gambling near those shops on the Dutch side? Thinking after the excursion, having lunch onboard ship, having DS10 go to the Lab and going shopping while DH gambles.

There are casinos on Dutch Sint Maarten but not on French Saint Martin. Fortunately the ship docks at Philipsburg on the Dutch side.

Most of the downtown Philipsburg casinos are rather seedy-looking with the exception of one... the Coliseum Casino, which is NOT on the main drag, but is probably a $3 taxi ride from the ship, looked fine from the outside. But you know what they say about judging a book by its cover...

The nicest casino on the island is reported to be the Princess Casino at Port de Plaisance.

Dave -- I agree. The casinos we saw on the Dutch side downtown were a little scary looking, and kind of tiny. I was really thankful to have DH with me!! Needless to say, we didn't stay long. You see, we're from Kansas City where we have four rather large mega-casinos, so it would take something like Paradise Island to impress us!:smooth:
