This is in response to the "most Disney security is hidden" posts.
I agree wholeheartedly! This wasn't really 'security' (I don't think), but it really opened my eyes!
My family and I were coming off of BTMRR when it started to rain. Being a good, prepared DISer, I was pulling out the brought from home ponchos while everyone else stood there with their hands out. There was a middle-aged grandmother with her grandchild. She was trying to hold her very large purse, the kid's hand, an ice cream cone and do something about staying dry. They were sitting on a bench and as it started to rain, she rose to head for cover. As she got up her foot got caught in her purse strap and she kind of slowly tumbled to the ground. Not really a regular fall...it seemed to be like a slow motion movie or something. Anyway, my hubby (who is about 5-6 steps away from her) immediately heads over with his hands out to help her. Before he could reach her five (5!) CMs had her surrounded helping her! I swear they were no where to be found 2 seconds before that! It was almost like they literally came out of the sidewalk.......
How does this relate to security? They are everywhere at WDW, even if you don't see them, they are there and they are watching. I have never felt unsafe at WDW - safer than at home sometimes.
