Security tag left on WDW merchandise

I have a weird question. My friend and I just went to WDW at the end of April and we both bought a new hoodie. She realized after we got home that they didn't take the security tag off. It was inside the hood and I guess she didn't see it. She still has the receipt so I told her to call the Disney Store here in NH. I figured the Disney Store would be able to remove it because it is an outlet store and they sell park merchandise. They said they have no ink tag removal machine and told her to try JC Penney (strange). Anyway should I have her just call or e-mail WDW and ask what to do? I assume she is going to have to mail it back to them and have it removed or take it to random stores and ask if they will remove it (again strange). Anyone had this happen before?

Call Disney, but chances are good that a store like JCP (any store with a remover) will remove the ink tag if she provides her receipt.

This happened to me in December. When I had discovered it, I was already back home. I called them up and I figured they would say just toss it out and we will mail you a new one. Instead they emailed me a prepaid mailing label, I sent it back to them, they removed the tag, and then sent it back.

This happened to me as well in 2013. They also emailed me a shipping label and made me send it back to them to remove it. I'll be double checking all my merchandise this year before we leave lol.

A few years back, this happened to a friend of my daughters. She purchased her prom dress, and didn't realized until the night of her prom that the ink tag was still on it. There was NO time to go back to the store, so I fashioned a shield to protect the dress out of some plastic soda bottle material, and then carefully cut apart the tag with a dremel tool until I was able to release it.

I bought something at an outlet mall and was 400 miles away before I realized I had a tag. Went to a nearby mall and went store to store with item and receipt until someone removed it for me. Store to store equals not all stores have the tool.

I just found this thread on a Google search because the same thing happened to me with a pirate hat I bought a WDW. Trouble is, I bought it with a GC and I threw out the receipt before we found that the tag was still attached. I've sent an email with photos to the Merchandise Guest Services email address, but if they won't help me does anyone know of other options?

Google some YouTubes videos. If it has an ink pack, freeze it before you attempt removing it. You could still try taking it to a local store. We bought something from the Disney Outlet Store many miles away. We took it to a local sporting goods store and they removed the tag for us. I took the receipt, but they never even looked at it or asked for it.

Freezing it! What a great idea! I'll see what the Merchandise Guest Services people say but if they won't help, I'll try the freezing.

Many of those tags can be released with a super strong magnet, if you happen to have one of those. It's worth a shot.

This is exactly what happened with me. I sent it with a copy of the receipt and they removed it and mailed it back.
But I also posted to the dis when it happened - and there was more than one person who told me to try JC Penny ... Apparently they use the same tag device - which not all store that use ink tags do...
