Security Screening at the Parks

My sister and family are going to WDW for the first time this month and she asked me about security screening at the parks. I think I heard it has changed since we were there in November 2016. I searched on the site and forums but was not able to find anything. Does anyone know what they are doing currently? They will be staying at the Boardwalk. Thank you!!

It depends on the park. At MK, they will get off the bus, then go to bag check/security, as they leave the bus area. Then right thru the turnstiles. At Epcot, it's pretty much the same as always, same at AK and DHS. But, there are metal detectors at all parks....it's hit or miss as to whether or not you have to go through them. Best to be prepared to go through.
For the resorts close to MK (CR/BLT, Polynesian, GF) there are dedicated security check points, so you go through those, and then head right to the turnstiles. You no longer join a throng of other guests, getting off buses, going through bag check.

So with the exception of MK, it should be the same as when we were there last November? We had bag check on the tables, then random selection for metal detectors. If we carried no bags we could still be chosen for random metal detectors (I think they had wands also?)

Now at MK you are not checked at MK unless coming in by bus. You're checked prior to boarding the ferry or monorail whether at TTC or at your monorail resort

For the other parks it's the same as when you were there last. Usually random screenings

Not to derail the thread, but what about Wilderness lodge? They have a boat to the Magic Kingdom - is there security before you board the boat at the resort? Thanks!

After you exit the boat at MK, but basically right there at the dock. So you're only going through security with the people coming off your boat.

They have a security checkpoint on the sidewalk a bit back from the actual gate. It's a big improvement.

There is security/bag check at the dock just after you disembark from the boat. The only people in line will be the others who were on the boat with you.

Any tips on how to pack bags for easy and quick checks? Do they inspect electronics? What about liquids?

Sorry, the only place I am used to bag checks is at the airport and I always pack to speed up time (takes a while to remove metal items like belt buckle and medical devices).

The more see-through bags you use, the easier and faster you can get through bag checks.

This is also the approach for the Poly/Grand Floridian boats.

I have a bag with only two compartments and two zippers. That's a big help. Also, organize the items you carry into zip loc bags. It makes it easier to search.

When you get up to the table, have your bag unzipped and ready for the CM to search.

Negative on both. I carry a 3L Camelback in a elastic pouch in my backpack. They will run their hands along the sizes, but when its full, there is no place to hide anything. I usually go through security with my DSLR hanging around my neck, and no one has ever asked to see it.
