Totally off topic, but just realized I'm flying with my laptop tomorrow and I always have my trusty gel wristpad with me in my laptop case.

Has anyone else gone through security recently and been told they can't have their gel pads with them??

Interesting. I think when they say "gel" they mean a loose gel, one that you can reshape into another shape and it doesn't bounce back. The gel wristpads, general retain their shape -- they're more like rubber than gelatin. I think they won't warrant a second look.

There is no clear rule either way. I suspect is will almost certainlly go through without question. But there is always the chance some TSA agent will decide it is against the rules and make you toss it.

If TSA spots it, I would expect them to prohibit you from taking it. A gel wrist pad is about the same consistancy as gel insoles and they are specifically prohibited.
But hey, you never know with those folks :confused3

Maybe I've been using the wrong kind of wrist pad! :rotfl:
