Security/rope drop etiquette question

I'd love to go bagless someday, but I can't commit just yet. I'm wondering - if I'm with someone else, whether one other person or my whole family, is it ok etiquette-wise for me to take the group's bag (and it would just be a single bag - I would not load myself down with four or five people's separate bags), send the rest of my group through the no bag line to line up at the tapstiles, and then meet up with them at the tapstiles after I go through bag check? Trying to perfect my Animal Kingdom/Pandora rope drop strategy. Thanks!

Why not?

We do it, I hit the bag line and the family goes through no bag line.

I would greatly appreciate it if there were one person per family/group in the bag line with me.

My only gripe ........

Never fails, even after all my stuff has been touched and messed up .... I get "randomly" selected to be scanned.

While my family and most the no bag folks walk straight in.

Last time I was very openly verbal to security as to the joke of that process.

They agreed, told me to complain to Disney.

I digress.

Go for it!

We did that at Ak for rope drop. People get on and off the tapstile line to use the bathroom as well.

This made me laugh because this is me! I said a few times last time, yea, not so random - they didn't get the joke LOL.

Since day one we have joked that I should be getting some kind of cards or pin each time so I can collect as most trips I'd have a complete set. Family joke, they all stand on other side laughing. They could have brought in a Japanese sword taped to their leg and not gotten caught. The longer this goes on the more I see bagless not being scanned at all. Last trip MK, they were just walking by even folks with strollers not being checked .... while I'm being scanned. DS says its RBF ... which only gets worse when they walk up to me. Last trip I got rather vocal and looked them in the eye. I said "This is absolutely pointless if you aren't going to scan everyone. Look at all those people walking in with who knows what under their clothes." I would get "We completely agree with you. Write Disney and complain. We can't do anything."

We don't go bagless either and I always consolidate so 1 person is going through bag check. It's usually just me and DS10 and since they don't send children through the metal detectors I hand him my fanny pack and go through the bagless entry while he goes through bag check. I've taught him to do a quick visual scan of ALL the BC tables and choose a short/quick moving line and not to get behind a stroller. I go through the detectors and we generally both come out the other side at close to the same time.

Only one of us goes in bag check, even if more than one is carrying a bag. I just put the other persons bag inside mine. Less people in the line is better from my pov

We all go through bag check, but only because we have a stroller, diaper bag, and a cooler. DH and I work together to get it all checked as fast as possible. If we didn't have a stroller, only one person would go through bag check.

Agree with the consensus here. The less people in the bag line the better. I always take the bag and send DW and the kids to non-bag line. It's just better for all involved.

I agree it totally makes sense to send one person through the bag line, and that's what we normally do. Usually the non-bag-carriers just kind of linger on the other side of bag check waiting for me, but especially for AK purposes, i'd love them to go stake out a spot at the tapstiles while I go through bag check. I was mostly worried about whether it would seem like I'm "cutting" in the line at the tapstiles to meet up with the rest of my group.
