Hi ,
I have aways worn my money belt through security with no problems. Mostly through BWI and MCO. My last trip out of Reagan National TSA made me take it off. Should I take it off for my next flight out of BWI? I hate to be separated from my cash and Disney gift cards.

I wonder how they even knew you had it on, unless you had a body scan. I've never been told to remove my money belt, even when I've had a pat down. They just ask to see it and I pull it above my waist band.

They can see it when I go through the scanner. At BWI I have been asked about it but not told to take it off. Only National made me take it off. I was just thinking National may be more strict as that was the only time I was ever told to take it off and I fly a lot.

I always put everything into my carry on bad and send it through the machine. If you want to avoid an extra pat down, put it in the carry on. You can never predict what TSA is going to do.

You have to take off belts if you are going through any body scanner. If the belt has a metal buckle, you are supposed to take it off for metal detectors as well. If it has a plastic buckle, you don't have to remove it for metal detectors.
