Hello! Arriving 12/17 and staying through 12/23. We’ve never experienced Disney World Christmas week. Just trying to prepare so we don’t miss reservations & tours! How long does it take to get through security and into the parks and Disney Springs when it’s extremely busy? We won’t have any strollers, and don’t plan on rope dropping at all. Thanks in advance for any insight provided!

All you do is walk through scanners, so it's generally very quick. The only time they check bags is if you have something metal/bigger that the scanners detect. They always say to pull out umbrellas and hard sunglass cases and hold them in front of you as you walk through the scanner, to avoid a bag check. I also hold my large metal water bottle and a bigger phone charger that way.

Definitely on the eyeglass case! I forget and it never fails that I have to get my purse checked. When I leave the case in the room or in front of me, it's no issue.

i would worry less about security and just the general traffic getting to the parks. I have seen video clips for Orlando news stations showing the general mayhem of cars trying to all enter the WDW complex. This will impact both non-resort guests and resort guests using WDW buses. I would just plan an extra 30 minutes to get anywhere during Christmas/

Don’t take your AirPods either. The magnet in the case sets it off.

I would suggest hitting the parks as early as you can get your gang moving. You will do more and can slow down and just enjoy being in the park when the crowds grow.

Thank you! Hadn’t thought about that!

Totally agree. It is likely to take way longer to get through the ticket/magic band scan than the security scan. I'm such a fan of the new security process - best change they've made to get into Disney parks since significant security changes were made after 9/11..... So much easier.

30 extra minutes sounds like a good rule of thumb that week!

I'd like to echo the traffic especially for Disney springs. We always have a rental car but unless we're going to Disney springs in the morning, we actually prefer to take Disney transportation to Disney springs
The traffic to get into the parking garages can be long.
