My son has a Darth Vader costume for MNSSHP. I'm worried about how to get it to Disney. It has a cloak and large mask, gloves. But it also has a light-up fiber optic chest, and a little box with wires and a battery for a sound/voice box. I have only flown once, but I'm thinking security is not going to like all those wire, box, and battery's. I'm thinking i shouldn't try taking it as a carry-on. But will they let me put it in checked luggage? And if so do you think it will be safe in there? (I hear so many stories of things getting stolen or lost). Any other ideas?
THANKS SO MUCH! :sunny:

Pack it. Worst case scenario they will open your bag to inspect it. People take inexpensive small electronics in their luggage all the time--travel alarms for example. The last time I flew I had a small coffee maker in my checked bag. The TSA did open the bag to inspect, no big deal.

If your really that worried, just ship it to your resort ahead of time via UPS.

Def. in checked luggage...one suggestion - I'd put it on top of contents, in one of those oversized zip storage bags to help keep everything "intact", in case it does get selected for special processing.

sounds like costume my youngest ds had one year (which I made many years ago w/battery powered Xmas lights lol)

enjoy your trip.

I think carry on would be fine. We just returned and I carried on lights to decorate my window and 2 light up skulls and it went through with no problem.

If you want to carry it on, carry it on. Worst case is they will pull out the costume and do a chemical swipe of you and the costume. Probably delay you a few minutes, but otherwise not a problem. And that's the bad scenario. It's very possibly it just goes right through.

Thanks for all the suggestions! :thumbsup2 Now if i can just fine that Clone Trooper costume my younger son wants!
