Security checks on entry??

Hi there,
When I visited in Oct 2006 we stayed in DLH and as such didn't experience any security checks. Next month we are staying in the NBC and have been hearing things about having your bags checked on the way in. I was hoping to bring some drinks and snacks with me for the kids and was wondering how strict the checks are? Do they take stuff from you? What are you not allowed to bring in?

Thanks for that guys had a heard a few rumours about not being allowed to bring food in but am happy now that I can get some stuff in train station shop and be self-sufficient and able to produce food quickly when the kids hit a slump!!
