My family is divided on this issue so please tell me what you think. We went to animal park Christmas day. We had my daughter's boyfriend who is from Australia, my daughter, myself and my 22y/o son-four adults. I had asked my son to carry his large empty backpack so I could bring those crackerl/bonbon things that English break open for a hat and toys to surprise the young Australian for Christmas lunch. When my son tried to pass through security the guard was very gruff and demanded to know what the crackers are. Admittedly my son wasn't very knowledgable about what to say but they let him through after searching everything-even the canteen. We were waiting at the turnstiles when a cm came over and said that we were chosen as the magical family. They rushed us through the turnstiles into guest relations where they asked a lot of questions about how we were related, names etc. We were then given 2 passes to get to the front of lines and were told to check in as we left the park and they would give us a surprise. I think they were doing a more thorough security check and my son agrees but my daughter and boyfriend believe in magic. What do you think???? I really wouldn't blame them and just didn't realize how suspicious we might look.

I think you got a magical moment. One thing didn't have anything to do with the other.

I don't think the two incidents are related. Pretty neat about being selected for the passes :)

It was purely coincidence. Sorry you had such a hard time with security, but I am so glad that they take their jobs seriously and do a thorough job.

Congrats on being the Family of the Day!

I don't think the two incidents were related either. My guess though about the "crackers" is those are a type of gentle "firecracker" and maybe they'd never came across these in a backpack before. To be honest, I'm sort of surprised they'd allow them in. The ones we've had sounded like a firecracker going off so I'd have worried they would have caused a panic. Not something I'd want to do in a crowded park.

I'm curious. What was the surprise when you left? Something cool I bet!! :D

I wonder why they only gave you two passes instead of four?I also would like to know what your surprise was. :D

What is a Magical family? Were these FOTL passes good for all rides or just one? That is super cool!!

Actually the passes were for all four of us to get in the front of 2 lines. We didn't need them Christmas morning though. They said "sorry for your inconvenience. Hope this helps." The surprise was a certificate saying we were the magic family and a lithograph. Unfortunately they were ruined in the rain. The crackers didn't really pop at all. I had tried them before we left home because I didn't want a loud noise in a public restaurant. I hadn't realize how they might appear to security. I too am appreciative for security.
