You know they've done this on cruise ships for as long as I can remember. Mostly so they know if you're bringing alcohol back on the ship and customs stuff I believe.... But they seem to have a very efficient way of doing it. If it does come to this I'm sure universal will figure out an efficient way. Plus, quite a few of us come from on-site venues... Would they go through the expense to build permanent structures at the boat ramps to do this? That's a lot of XRAY bag machines.... I also hear the valet lines are much shorter than the other from parking decks. Anyways, I've never once lost an item with it going through an XRAY. Actually feel like you'd be less likely to unless you're talking about having to take things out of your pockets and such. My brothers always stuck their pocket stuff in my bookbag before we got to the machines so they didn't risk dropping anything in the water on the ramp.
Right now they have the standing metal detectors at all of them. Well, I guess I got wanded at the boat ramp. They also go through my bag pretty good while I'm getting wanded.
Also... why would we have to take off your lanyard? I've never once had to remove it to get wanded or walk through a machine. There's not enough metal on it to go off. I even wear it on the rides that say NOTHING IN YOUR POCKETs.. because well it's my express pass.
I'm on both side of the fence here.. I'd like to say added security is fantastic! and I'd also like to think that things are just way blown out of proportion. There's always been bad people and bad things happening. Things are going to happen. But... I get it. Try to catch them if you can.
