Security at PVD-long line info

On Monday, Presidents Day, we flew out of PVD. We had a 6:20 am flight. Since PVD is small we arrived 1 hour early. We checked bags with the skycap, walked inside the terminal and stopped dead in our tracks. The entire floor was filled with people in line to go through security. The line for security started downstairs in baggage claim, it went upstairs and snaked around the entire checkin level, both sides. However, the good news is, the line moved very quickly. It took about 35 minutes for us to go through it. I never thought we'd make it, but we did. I'm sure it was because it was a holiday and the start of winter break for a lot of schools here. Just a word of warning for other flying out of PVD.

Also, as an FYI to Priceline users, we were able to get a 3* hotel by the airport with transportation for $45.

Just to ease any fears, that week at PVD is always NUTS!! We have flown out of there at everytime of year since 9/11 and we have never had more than a 20 minute wait thru security. Another family I know goes out every Presidents Day week and it is always a horror show. I'm glad you made your plane. Most of the East coast schools take that as February vacation.
