Just curious if anyone knows how the security is at the Value Resorts....Im traveling just my self (mom)and my daughter.....And i ask cause we had stayed at a hotel in FL ( not disney ) a while back and it was an open layout like the value resorts and there was a guy that knocked on our door and several other peoples door and secuirty found him .... so im nervous to be staying alone with my daughter so i was just curious on how security is???? do they keep the creeps out ??

I don't think they can keep everyone out, but I've never felt unsafe at any of the values. I would think obviously if you lock your door and don't open for strangers, you should be good.

Security is pretty good, but no hotel security is perfect. With Disney busses, there's nothing stopping someone from getting on a Pop, or any resort bus and getting off at that resort to wander around. We do this because we enjoy looking at other resort common areas. But I think the chances of someone wandering around the halls where they shouldn't will be caught out. Many eyes along the halls, and someone will phone security.
I always feel secure at a WDW resort. There's always people around, but at night would stick to the more populated areas. Normal safety percussion.

Have stayed at POP many times and never felt unsafe. Would not hesitate to stay there solo. Heck, even if you were staying at CR in the garden wing building, someone could just walk over from MK & knock on doors if they wanted.

I have traveled solo often for the last 11 years and I go very often to Disney because I feel the safest there.

One good thing is your KTTW card; between using it as your park key, room key, or charging something, you leave a trail where you are located at all times.

While no place is 100 percent safe, I do feel Disney does a lot to make their guests feel very safe - heck, I have walked out to the quiet pool at POR at 3 am and never felt like I couldn't - that is, unless I encountered a critter....:scared1:

The ONLY time we have ever had a "stranger at the door" incident is at CSR,

1 - Four non-clothed teenagers were banging on doors at 2 AM

2 - A drunk man was asking for money, banging on our door, and yelling to us

In both circumstances, we called Security immediately - and they handled both incidents in a timely manner. We remain impressed with the security.

We have stayed at all of the values and all of the Mods. These were the only 2 problems we had.

I think security at Disney is excellent. The security gets no worse or no better staying at a value, mod, or deluxe.
I do feel very safe on Disney property. :thumbsup2

I agree completely. I am an often solo traveler and have never had issues or concerns while at WDW in any level of resort.

we have stayed at 2 or 3 all stars and never had a issue. We love the values as we are a family that only goes to the room to sleep so it works for us!

I feel safe and content there, everyone always seems friendly, and while we are still careful we are happy and safe.

Have a great trip!

No matter where you are you should always take responsibility for your own security. Keep your door locked while in there. Don't open for anyone that you are not expecting, even someone dressed like they work there without first contacting the front desk to be sure someone was sent to your room. Try to always be in a group. One good thing about hotels is they are not soundproof between rooms. So if needed you should yell as loud as you can and keep repaeting soemthing simple like "help Intruder" or "help Attack" most likely someone on the side or below you will be able to hear what is going on and the person commiting the assult will probably get scared and run.

One of the most defensless spots for a guy is standing at a urinal. No video cameras in the bathroom and your head is only about a foot from the wall. Not as big of a deal at a place like WDW with a lot of foot traffic, but you bet your bottom dollar I am always looking behind me at the urnial no matter where I am.

Not trying to scare anyone, Disney probably has the best security in the area, but people seem to get a little too complacent about their own safety while at WDW.

I've stayed solo and with other at the values and feel just as safe as I do in my own home. Anyone can still get on the property, so I'd take the same precautions you would traveling anywhere, but I've never felt endangered.

They have roaming security guards in marked vehicles who are very helpful. One time my car wouldn't start as we tried to head for home and one of the security guards saw and came over to help us. He stayed with us for quite some time (it was me, a younger female, and my elderly grandmother), checked our battery with one of those portable chargers, and called the car car center for us. Someone with a tow truck came and was able to get the car started, and all the while, the security was standing with us. It was a great experience and both the security guard and man from the car care center were caring and helpful.

My daughter & I knocked on someone else' door at CSR once.

It was late-ish (10pm) and we left our room (I forget why) without our keys. After all, hubby & son were still in there anyways. Came back 5 minutes later and wondered why they wouldn't answer the door. Then I checked the # and realized it was the wrong door! :scared1: :lmao:

It was only our second night there and I was confused. I felt bad for the person/people inside who must have wondered who the heck was knocking at their door.

I have been a single mom traveling alone with my kids for years. I feel safe at DW and have had no problems at all. I love the values especially pop. I think it is the safest option for traveling. There is always someone out late and you just don't feel isolated. Also security is good.

We have stayed at POP many times and I have always felt safe there - One thing to consider:

1:00am in the *real world* - most people are asleep - anyone roaming around at that hour may be considered creepy.

1:00am in the *World* - depending on the time of year..1:00am at the resorts can be as hopping as 1:00 in the afternoon. We came back from EMH at MK after midnight..the food court was packed...the walkways were full of people and the pools were ...well...full and LOUD....and they stayed that way for a while..trust me..I know...I had a pool view room.

We've never felt unsafe at a Value Resort, in fact I usually feel safer than a 'normal' hotel.

That being said you cannot allow yourself to get a false sense of security: Just use your common sense as you would anywhere else. Don't wander around by yourself after dark, don't open your door to a stranger, keep your door locked, etc.

As long as you use common sense you will be fine. I've only been once though. We did walk to the main building to get drinks when it was dark and there were cast members walking around and stuff(they seemed to pop out of no where too) There are people everywhere, so someone will know if something bad happens.
