Specifically a 1 bedroom....possible.

We are deciding between buying resale at SSR or direct at VGF. We always go the Friday of marathon for 5 nights. I get more for my money with the resale at SSR and we are OK staying at SSR but like VGF better and also feel it will retain its value better if ever decide to sell.

Thoughts?

So far, it seems that availability for 1 bedrooms is pretty good at the 7 month mark. Studios are what is very hard to come by.

I think if you really want to be at VGF, owning there is important. Who knows what will happen down the road--ie: they could adjust points to make 1 bedrooms less and studios a bit more which will affect availability.

You are also talking about a special weekend and that can sometimes change things.

Good luck!

I was keeping pretty good tabs on 1 br.s that weekend this year up until 30 days out thinking to split our last 3 nights to try another DVC resort - specifically looking at BWV & VGF - and never managed to get Thurs, Fri. And Sat. of marathon weekend. There are 47 1 br.s at VGF don't know how it breaks down view wise. Maybe I just didn't check often enough and @ the 7 month mark I was really focused on BWV Boardwalk view (which I wait listed but never got) so perhaps others have had more success.

As long as you don't mind staying at SSR during your marathon trips because you're not going to get VGF then..

I agree with everyone else. If you are going to WDW at a popular time and want to stay at VGF, you really need to own there as it gets booked up quick. I'm sure someone will say that they secured a reservation at 7 months for a busy time but that is the exception and not the rule. This is one of the main reasons we decided to buy at VGF because we knew how popular it would be and we wanted the 11 month window. Good luck on your decision!

thanks for the responses everyone! I pretty much assumed what everyone wrote...and we are not going to chance it...we are buying at VGF. Calling tomorrow :cheer2:

Good luck, make sure your salesperson knows you need to close and have those point on the books in your account in time to have the 11 month booking advantage for next January.
