I haven't flow since the TSA came into being and was wondering how others are securing their suitcases, since lthe TSA recommends not using locks. I was thinking about using the plastic ties that come with some garbage bags (the kind where you thread one end through a hole in the other end and cinch it until it closes), but thought there might be a better alternative. Thank you.

We used keyring loops. It worked fine until this last trip. They never put them back on after they removed them.

They did attach plastic ties to show that the bags had been inspected, but that left us with nothing to secure them with once we opened them. :( :( :(

We use the plastic ties. Actually we used those before all this and the Feb before 9/11 I bought us all locks (LOL) We buy the ties at the hardward store, but make sure you get skinny ones. Also, you should pack in an outside pocket, nail clipper or small scissors, so you can cut them off. We just pack extras for the trip home.

P.S. don't pull them so tight you can't get the scissors in the loop to cut them.

dvcreg - my guess is they cut off the keyrings, that's why they didn't put them back on.

Hi,

On our last two trips to Fl ( just got back Tuesday from Pensacola), we used plain old baggie twistie ties and they worked great.

Our bags were opened and inspecrted in Pensacola and the agent even put the twist ties back on the bags which was great.

herc.
