Securing resort room before booking date?

We think we want to get married on June 6, 2017 and stay for two nights at VGF studio. Do u think it would be dumb to rent points at 11 months before we know our wedding date for sure? June 6th is a Tuesday and we are looking to do the WP. We would be ok with whatever time if we had to but I'm thinking maybe for some reason Escape weddings won't be offered that day for some odd reason. Am I being paranoid and should book the non-refundable room at 11 months? Or would you advise against doing that?

Also does 4 night requirement have to be at one resort or does a split stay count? And if split stay doesn't count, can 4 consecutive nights be the day after the wedding?

Weekdays are the *only* days you can do an Escape event, and I think you'll be fine on a Tuesday. A split stay counts - you just can't have the day you check in be the day of your event.

VGF is HIGHLY desirable so if you want it I'd book it at 11 months as you likely won't get it otherwise...
There is always the possibility (depending on who you are renting through) that they might be willing to adjust the booking and drop a day from the booking (as members can do that up to 31 days in advance). It really just depends on the rules of the renter. There might be a processing fee but as the member isn't penalised I personally think this should be possible...
FYI...
"Cancelling a DVC Resort Reservation
31 or More Days Prior to Check-in: Woo hoo! All of the points used to make the reservation are restored to your account in the appropriate Use Year."

"Changing a DVC Resort Reservation
31 or More Days Prior to Check-in: Basically, you get a “pass.” What’s more, if your new reservation uses fewer points than the original reservation, the leftover points are restored to your account in the appropriate Use Year. All is right in the World!"

With family members being members I've never taken much notice of how it all happens but as long as you are using your current points there's no 'non refundable' part for the MEMBER until 31 days in advance. That's why it's at that point there can be cancellations and brief moments of availability in harder to find locations.

If it were me...I'd take it and book for the night of the wedding, the night before, and one before or after those two days. Whichever you'd be more likely to adjust to. Monday's seem to be more popular wedding day as it's next to a weekend so Wednesday tends to be more "open".

Thanks! We're trying to do as early in June as possible so I'm thinking I'll book 3 nights (6/4, 6/5, 6/6) so that we can have the wedding be on Monday or Tuesday.... I would do Wednesday but then for the rest of our guests DVC starts to switch from dream season to a more costly category. Maybe I Will rent through DVC rental store and get the cancel for any reason plan... Still cheaper than booking a regular resort room at GF
