I have some basic info about the "secret" verandah and porthole rooms on the Magic and Wonder. If you have stayed in either types of these rooms I would love to hear your opinion on these rooms.

We stayed in 2 connecting secret porthole rooms and were extremely happy with them. Not only did we have the natural light but the location on deck 5 was very convenient. We will be staying in these room again on a Alaska cruise this summer.

On the Wonder my parents were in room 7120. This was labeled a category 7a (navigators verandah). This room actually had a full regular verandah but due to a slight obstruction was downgraded to a 7a. The view was great and was better than they expected so they were very happy.

We stayed in #6634 on both the Magic and the Wonder and would book these rooms over and over and over again!!! They are Cat 5 rooms reclassified to Cat 7A because of their slight obstruction, which we didn't even notice! They are for 3 people, though, because they do not have the pull-down bed.

We loved 5520. Obstructed porthole room with very little obstruction. We also found deck 5 very convienent and not alot of foot traffic in those halls

We loved 5522 on the magic. Great view, great location especially for the kids clubs. Sound from the other (connecting) room was distracting at times though. I really could hear every word of their conversations, but we just turned on the TV.

We stayed in 5520 on the Wonder and loved it:thumbsup2 The obstruction was minimal and it was nice to have natural light in the room. I have pictures of the room in my trip report (click link below)

We have the same room on our Magic cruise in a few weeks, I will post a report of that room when we get back.

Stayed in the same room on the Wonder for our Alaska cruise and we would absolutely book that room again. The "obstruction" was minor and helped cut down on the wind just a bit. It added a little but of privacy at one end of the balcony but there was still a significant port of the balcony being a regular railing.

I can also confirm that this room only sleeps three.

Does anyone know when the rooms were re-classified?

I have an older travel brochure from 2008-2009 and the rooms mentioned are in the categories that they are now re-classified as. The secret porthole rooms are cat.10 in my brochure.

We stayed in Cabin 5022 on the Magic two years ago and it was great. Loved the location on the ship. It was close to stairs/elevator but minimal hallway noise.

We had room 7120 on both of our Magic cruises and are booked in 7120 for our upcoming Wonder cruise. Love this room!

Thanks everyone for the feedback on these types of rooms. If I get the chance I will definitely book these types of rooms on future sailings.:cool1:

i am staying in Room 6120 on the Magic, Im getting conflicting info online about whether there is a naviagtors window. Anywone stay in this room?

We stayed in connecting 5520 & 5522 on Magic last year. They were great rooms. Excellent location IMO. Plenty of sunlight. Right across the hall from access doors and never heard them. I'd stay there again.

We've stayed in 7120 on the Wonder twice. We love that room! Once we picked it at opening day price and once we upgraded into it at the port after the people who originally had it upgraded to concierge.

We stayed in 5520 on the EBTA last year we loved the location but we did notice noise from the crew door across the hall. We have however booked the same room on the Wonder next year.

6120 is a traditional navigator verandah, with the large open window. The "secret" verandahs are 6134, 6634, 7120, 7620, 7120 is my favorite cabin.

we did a last minute Magic booking with a big discount and they gave us what was a porthole verandah room, But the opening was full width so all you missed was the lower glass. We were on the top level in the back, so we really got double savings because we got the last minute discount and a discount for the wall at the balcony. No complaints here. The room next door was probably paying double
