This may sound like a strange question but someone told me that on both ships there is something called a secret window room. Referring to an inside room that has a window. Does anyone know if that is true and if so what rooms are they.

Thanks

The "secret porthole rooms" aren't so secret anymore. They're a good deal if you can get them (booked as a Cat. 10 room), but they're likely booked well in advance these days.

If you go to www.disneycruiser.com and click on the photos page, you can see what the view is out of these windows. Because they're partially obstructed, Disney sells them as inside rooms. They are the only Cat 10 rooms located on Deck 5. The same site gives the room numbers.

There are six of them on each ship. The cabin numbers are 5020, 5022 & 5024 on the port (left) side and 5520, 5522 and 5524 on the starboard side. They are sold as Category 10 (inside) staterooms but have a partially blocked porthole. The blockage is, IMHO, not bad at all. We had cabins 5022 & 5024 on our last cruise and they were great. Just one note...these two cabins (along with 5522 & 5524 on the starboard side) are connecting cabins. If you only need one I would suggest trying to get 5020 or 5520. These two also have the least obstructed views.

You can see pictures of these cabins on the www.castawayclub.com website. It is run by another DISer and has lots of great info.

We booked the Sept. 21st Eastern Caribbean cruise on Jan. 10th and requested one of the "secret" porthole rooms. We were able to get one but our TA told us it was the last one left. The other five were already booked. So...they do have to be requested early and they go fast. Like it was stated, "the secret porthole rooms aren't so secret anymore"!

My family along with SIL family each had a secret porthole cabin last Labor Day week on the Magic. I unfortunately had 5522 which is a connecting room and it had more than its share of noise. We could hear the tub being filled with water and spashing- what they ordered from room service, their DD crying at 12 or 1 every morning, their pager going off- you get the drift! We were also across from the baggage handling room and we heard the metal door slamming quite often!

Anyway- to get to the point- I met this couple at lunch at Parrot one afternoon and found out that on the day of the cruise they were given an upgrade to this room! My SIL and I had originally requested these rooms and told they were booked (as in NOT AVAILABLE!)

I would steer clear of the adjoining rooms unless you have someone you know next door!

BTW- this was our 3rd cruise and we had never had noise problems before!
