Secret rooms at the parks?

Behind Honey I Shrunk The Audience is a sponsor lounge that was operated by Kodak for some years, but it has been closed now. Employees and their guests or customers could relax and have a drink before getting in to the show without waiting.

I was actually in this room several times. My dad was a personnel manager for one of the Kodak divisions and I was an engineer for them. The room was quite nice with a large assortment of snacks and drinks available. They also had closed circuit television so you could see some of the activity in the pavilion.

There is a corporate VIP room in Mission Space for HP employees and VIP customers. No code will help you get in though; you press a call button, and they let you in if you are an HP employee or an expected guest on the guest list.

The lounge was staffed by two people; one Disney employee and one HP employee, and they served non-alcoholic drinks but no snacks. There is a large window on one wall with darkened glass which overlooks the ride queue, and they can provide valid guests with unlimited fastpasses for Mission Space. There are also a couple of HP photo printers for printing pictures from your digital camera, a silly digital tilt-steering (like rolling a ball through a maze) game, and one of the email video postcard machines.

The green booth behind us is the video email booth, and the table in front of us is the tilt-game. The windows are just out of the picture to the right.

I don't think it's much of a secret, but perhaps a little hard to see. If you do DiveQuest at Epcot, while you're cruising around you can see through the windows into an event room. Last time I did DiveQuest, I saw people setting up flowers and food for some activity. There is also a grand piano in the room that appears to be made from some sort of clear acrylic. Kind of interesting to see people in that area.

This room is called the Living Seas Salon and it's a private room for weddings and other special events.

The only actual "room" that i know of isnt a secret. The castle in MK. The room on the top was made for Walt Disney and his family but he died. Then it became the space for some electrical things like for the phones or something. Now you can win a chance to stay in the room for a night or something like that the room is kind of mysterious. Knowing Walt Disney, there is probably a secret compartment or something up there that nobody knows about. That would be really cool.

When Space Mt was sponsored by RCA my family used to be able to get in there and it had free food and drinks for employees. That's also where we went to make all of our dining reservations for that week. I can't believe there was ever a time that you could make all your ADRs when you got down to disney and not 90 days out!

When GE sponsored Horizons there was also a VIP employee lounge where you could do the same. You also didn't have to wait on line to get on the ride. They would take you through the back way and just load you on a car before everyone else.

I also want to say when GE used to host one of the Fireworks shows (Fantasmic?! I think it was at MGM)... there's also a GE employee lounge with the same amenities too.

The only reason why I remember any of this is I just remember sitting on the big leather couches in the lounges and drinking soda while watching my dad make ADRs at the desk. And thinking it was awesome for no wait for Horizons. I'll have to see if I can dig and find photos.

Yea, we remember when you could make those dining reservations at the free standing kiosks in World Showcase, and in that huge {then} open area under Space Ship Earth, where you actually saw the reservationist while you made your dining plans for the day. And a funny thing, a complete turn around regarding dining reservations, I guess you could call it, we made dining reservations for this Saturday ON-LINE!. Whoda' thunk it!

as far as I know, no there isn't. You need to show valid proof that you are an employee of one of the sponsored rooms, etc.

Wonders of Life also featured an employee lounge back when MetLife sponsored the exhibit. My dad works for them and we stopped in during a trip in 1994. Like the other ones described, it was just some couches, some snacks, a soda fountain, and a way to skip the line...in that case, Body Wars.

My girlfriend had her Disney wedding reception in that room. The piano was made of clear acrylic. It was really nice and the food was to die for.

We took advantage of the Horizons GE employee lounge several times. It was great. There were complimentary snacks & beverages, a private entrance to Horizons ride, couches and a remote control to change the position of the rooftop camera for different views of EPCOT. At that time Carousel of Progress, Horizons, and a light show (maybe a predecessor to Illuminations?) were all sponsored by GE. Along with the lounge all GE employees were offered free membership in the Magic Kingdom Club which offered discounts and special merchandise as well as discounted subscriptions to the Disney News. I remember applying to be the site rep for the MKC as I did not think it was communicated sufficiently to employees. Ahhhh, the good old days...

I worked for Metlife for many years and on our honeymoon DH and I went into the employee lounge behind the Body Wars ride. I have a picture somewhere that I wish I could find, they had a carousel horse from Michael Jackson (Neverland I think) that we had our picture taken with us sitting on it. It was nice to go into an uncrowded place to cool off, have a drink and relax, also nice to not have to wait on the long line for the ride, as they did have a back entrance to the ride for employees of Metlife.

At Autopia in Disneyland, there is a small private lounge for Chevron employees. All chevron employees should be able to get the code to gain access to the lounge.
