Hi all,

Some of you may have read my thread about having booked a surprise trip for our DDs 6th birthday... We're spending 3 nights at SL in November.

Im looking for some inspiration please!!

If anyone has any ideas about how to reveal it or would like to share their stories about secret surprises trips id love to read them :goodvibespopcorn:::goodvibes

Thanks all

I've only managed to do a surprise trip once (all the other times I'm usually shouting to my DD "guess what I've just booked" as soon as I'm off the phone to Disney :rotfl::rotfl:. I had such a hard time keeping her surprise trip to myself (and it was only for a couple of months) that I never organised a special way to tell her - this is how it went -

"Sunday morning, when we woke up, I asked her what she fancied doing today. She asked me the same question, and I said "I fancy going to Disneyland". DD said "Mum you always say that" then I said "yes but shall we just go - today??" Cue the biggest grin I've seen on my DD's face for ages, followed by 10 minutes of her jumping around the bedroom, stopping once in a while to hug me and ask "are you tricking me???". It was a brill way to start a trip, and worth all the planning (and stress with Expedia) to surprise her."

DD has had quite a few surprise trips.

The first one was Christmas and this is how we surprised her (with a letter from Belle hidden in a new suitcase which was all packed ready)

We then had a surprise birthday trip for her when we had a card sent to her from Mickey for her birthday 2 days before

We then had a trip full of surprises in February 09 when we managed to drive all the way there and she woke up in the hotel carpark and realised where she was

Trip report in the index Feb 09

Finally after promising myself no more surprise trips I surprised her again this Oct with a trip to DL California in a similar way to Elaine. She thought she was having a few days away in this country. on the train she asked what we were doing the next day so I said I wasnt sure- maybe a theme park. We were booked into a hotel room and she asked again so I asked if she wanted to go to Disney. She looked very confused so I gave her the airline ticket which she looked at and then spent the next hour jumping up and down

A Small World... that was such a cool idea to wrap her suitcase!! id say her face was a picture!!

and what a cool question to wake up to!! i know what my answer would be every time too DLPDaft!!

im going to try to keep it a secret until as close to boarding time as possible... we could tell jem we're colecting someone from the airport... and produce a bambi plush (her favourite) when we're walking to the gate. i have a load of ideas floating around!! For luck DD is away i her nans for a couple of nights, ive a feeling id have her told if she was here. im just waiting for the initial ive just booked DLP buzz to wear off :lovestruc

How brilliant not to tell her until you are at the airport :goodvibes

Our last 2 trips have been presents from Santa so surprises on Christmas morning. The first time was a letter from Santa telling the boys when and where they were going.

The second time I got a bit more creative.I sent them on a treasure hunt round the house with clues telling them where to go and attached to each clue was a small present for each of them....a disney character. The final prize was a gold envelope with all the details in.

This trip was not a surprise as soon as I booked many many months ago I told them and ever since the planning has commenced :cool1:

Hehe funnily enough my upcoming trip is a supprise one.... My cousin (i think shes actually a cousin in law actually) booked up to take her daughter and son and later my mum and my aunt (cousins mother in law) also desided to book up, now my half cousins have no idea that me, my stsier, my aunt (gran) and my uncle (grandad to my half cousins) are coming... We are going to meet them all at the airport and see how long it takes them to click on that we are going with them....it will be another supprise later on for my older half cousin that she is going to get the choice t come and stay inth disneyland hotel with us while her mum stays in thw hotel new york... Shall post a comment after the tripmtwlling how wel, it goes down =]

thats a nice idea in theory, but i hope shes not a avid planner like myself as my family turning up like that would put me out especially if ive a meal / show prepaid. also would it be fair on her son as hes not invited to the disneyland hotel too? plus mum might not want her family split up on her family holiday especially if its a one off / first to dlp

I'm loving hearing about all these surprises ~ keep 'em coming! :goodvibes

aah my cousin in law (mum to half cousins) is fully aware that we are going so everything has been planed together in secret (my half cousin who doesnt know is only 11 so isnt really planning any shows or anything :P ) also the son (younger half cousin) is only 5 and doesnt usually stay with my aunty and uncle (gran and grandad for him) so he will be staying with mum,
it was my cousin in laws (mum to cousin) idea for her to come and stay with us lol!!... she had originally been booked to come to the DLH too but unforseen circumstances caused her to have to down grade her hotel to the HNY, my half cousin (11) was devistated that she was no longer going to the DLH so it was suggested that my half cousin could go with my aunty and uncle since they have room in their room with it not being full... we even checked with the travel agent that that was ok to do this and they said it was fine =]

and its not first trip its the 7/8th trip =]

There are some truly lovely surprises on here but I think this one beats the lot. :goodvibes You must let us know how it goes.

Awww, what a lucky girl! Hope you all have a fab trip! :goodvibes

DD doesn't know about our next trip, partly for my own sanity (4 year olds have no sense of time) and partly because I can't cope with her being let down again...! (We had a near miss with the volcanic ash, then there was the snow, ice...!) I am planning on telling her the weekend before we go. She is going through a phase of wishing on the evening star (just like Charlotte & Tiana) and I thought I could suggest we wish to go back to Disney and then get DH to throw some glitter out of the window... :wizard:

That way we could have a family Disney planning weekend before our trip...

Thats lovely SwipatronSwipes. She will be so so so happy :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thats brilliant Mum to Belle... just be careful he doesnt fall out the window when scattering the glitter!!!

I think Bambi is going to invite Jem to DLP.. But not til the morning we travel or she wont sleep :)
